  1. The fit here is amazing. I'm surprised that the gore tacks because it is a mite on the wide side for my close-set breasts, but it actually works perfectly. Very cool look with the peek-a-boo holes, bright red color, and unnecessary center rivet. It's lacy but not in an overly femmey way. This is one of the all-time best-looking-on-me bras.

Here's the problem: T can't stand to wear it. the fabric feels stiff and unforgiving (kind of surprising since it's fairly high spandex %), and even though the lacy-ness is not traditionally lacy, it's still incredibly itchy and uncomfortable for me. I'm very sensitive to synthetic fabrics, and after six hours wearing this bra, I very suddenly want to claw it off.

    90% nylon/polyamide, 10% elastene

    • This bra looks amazing on you. Such a shame about the irritating fabric!

    • Thanks! My dream is to find a bra that fits like the Rio but is made of/lined with cotton. I know, it's only a dream.

I like this model (see 30E review). But it was too small in the cup for me, and too big in the band.

I bought this bra while I was learning more about my actual size, and before I knew anything about how stretchy Freya bands can be. Freya calls this a balconnet style but I think it's closer to a full-coverage, based on the fact that while the E is a little wrinkly at the top of the cup, the DD gives me quadraboob. If you're full on top or have even fullness, you'll probably face the same issue.

The pros: I really like the fabric - a sort of "garden-gate" pattern, thick mesh; the underwires are sturdy; it's comfortable all day; and the seams don't show too prominently under ... clothes. The styling is interesting and quite unlike anything else I've owned - sort of 'modernist' looking, with no bows or lace. The straps are fully-adjustable and wide enough that they don't dig in, but not so wide that they look frumpy or grandma-ish. The cups don't make me look pointy. My Rios have lasted in good condition for at least a year, as long as I rotate among them regularly.

The cons: the band, like most Freya bands, is stretchy. I recommend going down a size in the band (and correspondingly up a cup size). It comes in only 3 colors currently - red, white, and black - which is boring. The nude color was discontinued, but supposedly is coming back in July 2014.

The bottom line: Rio is good value for the quality and fit, and it'll continue to be my go-to, every day bra.

Beautiful bra! In real life the red color is a tomato red, with a very slight orange undertones (no blues) and is so nice. This bra had way too much volume in the top of the cup for me, leaving it very baggy on the top and sides. The bottom of the cup was great, as was the depth. I am quite FOB, so I think this would be a much better fit for someone who had fairly even breasts.

I bought this for my mum, who is a couple of sizes bigger than me, both in band and cup.

I got this bra from Figleaves, and it smells like it's been washed. It's supposed to be a 32 band, which is what the tag says, but it fits me perfectly, and I have trouble finding 30's that are snug enough for me. I can just about stretch it to 31.5", but only when I pull like CRAZY. Mum couldn't even close it in the back; it took two extenders just to get the back ends to meet, and it was still too tight. The cups were too big - I'm guessing two sizes, but that's probably just a miscalculation on my part. The wires were a good width on her, but I don't know what that means when everything else fit so badly.

Not sure if I got a mislabelled reject or whatever's going on, and I don't know if I have the energy to retry with other sizes. [sighs]

I tried this in a 28G before sizing up to a 30FF as the band runs a little tight. The 30FF fits really well and the discomfort caused between the tightness of the 28 band and the gore digging in seems to have disappeared. We'll see if that lasts.

This bra gives me a more projected look, but I personally prefer that over looking wide.

    Didn't fit

Just received this in the mail.

As of trying it on and wearing it briefly, I'm not in love with the color (crimson apparently equals orange red at Freya). However, the general fit is pretty good. The band is a pretty tight 28, but comfortable unlike the tightness of Panache's Tango. The cups fit well unless I take a really deep breath, at which point they quadboob a little. (I think this is probably a sign that I still ought to be leaning towards FoT rather than FoB, though I'm fairly even.) Even with that, I think it is going to be a keeper.

Edit: I'm pretty hesitant ... on keeping this now, actually. After trying it out for just a little longer, the gore started to really hurt on me. It digs in not at the top of the gore, but rather just before the wire curves under my right breast (right where my ribs connects to my sternum and sticks out a bit). Not sure if there is much I can do about that except add padding there. Or perhaps try it in a higher band. I hesitate to go in the direction of a 30FF, but either that or a 30G might work.

The gore sits fairly high, and the cups are too projected for me. The band is quite firm.

Despite the fact that the cup fabric of this bra seems it a little stiff, it is quite comfortable and not at all irritating. This underwires on the Rio are noticeably longer than on my other bras, so I do notice a bit more rubbing (I wouldn't quite call it poking) under my arms. That said, the wire channel on this bra is almost a full inch longer than the wire itself, so it could be the empty part of the channel that is moving around a bit causing the slight irritation.

While generally the 32 Freya bands are too lose on me, this one seems quite firm. I've only worn it a few times, but haven't noticed the band riding up too much.

    Fits

I have been gradually working my way up in cup size, after realizing from viewing all the bra blogs out there, that my cup size was too small.

I have been wearing a Freya Deco 28 GG, after going up from a 28 G...but with the 'scooping' technique, I was getting a 'quad boob' on my right boob which is a size bigger than the left one...so I knew the 28 GG cup increase was still too small https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />...and I was SO gutted to find Freya don't make any bigger cup size in this bra!! (why not Freya when you make ... your other 28 bras with bigger cup sizes and the Deco is so popular!?) It is the only bra that has given my soft tissue, bottom heavy boobs any 'up lift'!

I had always found the Freya Deco strap a bit too stretchy (I measure 27" under my bust)...so after some research on Bratabase I worked out the 'Rio' in a 28 H might fit okay as the strap is quite tight for a 28" strap.............

Well, the Rio's strap is tight! That is great for me as there's no slipping up my back...stays firmly in place, though the tightness would need some getting used to.

The bra DOES fit...covers all my breast tissue after scooping...no quad boobs....BUT the result is a bra that fits but gives a horrible FLAT shape!! ...No nice rounded lifted shape under clothes, no cleavage...by the way this is the same problem I have found with the Bravissimo Satine bra (fits, but no nice shape..flat!) and Curvy Kate bras.

I think I really have to stick with padded (probably push up) bras to gather all my soft tissue up...the fabric and shape of this bra does nothing for me https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> Shame because it's easy to buy here in the UK and cheap around £20.

The only thing for me now is to get going and order some Ewa Michalak bras, to hopefully get a good shape and the removable pads will sort out my two different sized boobs!..might take a while as it took a week for them to even reply to my email enquiry & I risk picking the wrong cup size first time (I'm thinking J,JJ..even K after looking at sizing on this site??)...I'll review the Ewa bra/s, hopefully soon https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />
