Freya's padded half cups have always been a go-to for me. Fearne was on my must-have list since I saw the AW16 previews. I just love the pattern and the bra looks so much nicer in person than in the promo photos. The material is delightfully soft and smooth with quality finishing. I think it's flying under the radar, and that's a shame, because it's beautiful. Unfortunately, the 4-part padded half cup from Freya is a shape mismatch for my narrow, projected, close-set, FoB, short-rooted boobs. I wish it fit. There's a full review on my blog!

This review is for the black color way.

I saw online rumors that the Patsy, my favorite padded half cup, was being discontinued so I ordered the Fearne as a 'tester' replacement. I have to say this is probably my new favorite bra.

    * The band on the Fearne is stretchy just like the Patsy
    * Fearne is a little more closed on top. I have an even, self supporting shape and this did not cause any quadding. If you are very FOT or have soft tissue, this may be an issue for you.
    * Overall, the Fearne fits me just as well as the Patsy does
    * Fearne's seams are less visible under clothing as compared to Patsy
    * Fearne's fabric is a lot softer than Patsy. Very comfortable!
    * I also like the pattern better on the Fearne. The Patsy's polka dots were cute; this pattern feels more elegant.

I highly recommend Fearne if Patsy worked for you. I am off to get the beige color way!

This is an absolutely gorgeous bra that fits me quite well. I'm used to full coverage bras, but the half cup works quite well for me because I've lost some of the little top fullness I had and that does strange things to full coverage cups. The band on this bra isn't as comfortable as my older Elomi bras, but that may just be due to new-bra stiffness. For now, I look forward to taking it off at the end of the day. The support is superb, and I like that the light padding on the upper cup keeps my nipples from poking through, unlike some of Freya's other offerings.

I fit into a 32F in the other Freya and Fantasie bras I've tried, so the cups on this one seem to run a smidge small.

Hot damn, this bra is comfortable. As the model name suggests, it's a padded half cup bra. The cup is divided into 4 segments. The straps are wide and they have this soft, stretchy padding underneath - I've never before experienced such bliss. The band is rather stretchy, which to me feels comfortable. The cups are pretty good on me, though I cannot deny that I'm quadding a bit, especially noticable if I breathe in. The shape of the cups however is not ideal for my breasts, it artificially spreads them and makes them point more sideways than they naturally do. Also, I think either the wire is not long enough, the cups or not wide enough or the wing is not high enough - there is side/armpit boob tissue escaping where the straps meet the cups.

The Fearne Padded Half Cup is my fourth Freya padded bra, and unfortunately this one had one fatal flaw. This is a shame, since I really liked the appearance of the bra, and actually found the cups to be a pretty good fit! I own the Unlined Fearne Balcony in the Black colorway and picked up this one in Ivory, which is actually mostly soft bubblegum pink print with ivory. It's much cuter in person than I expected.

Usually, this type of Padded Half Cup has a reputation for being wide and shallow. I actually found this one to be narrow and projected. The ... main problem is that the wires here are incredibly rigid and almost entirely vertical at the outer cup, so instead of flexing a bit wider when worn, it does not budge. As a result, the wires sit on my side tissue and feel painful. The stiffness of the wire also makes the gore a little uncomfortable, but as there is no extra room in the wire channel, I can't shift it around either. I think that if this bra had normal wires of average flexibility and a more gentle curved shape, it would have fit quite well. The cups are a 4 piece construction with a 3HC bottom cup and a horizontal upper cup, which is neither particularly closed or open, and fits me pretty well. They feel like they have some decent projection and give a naturally rounded shape. Due to the narrow wires, I had a feeling that the cups were a touch small, but it's really hard to tell if that is really the case or if it is due to the wires restricting the cup width. I had no trouble filling this out, whereas the Freya unlined bras in 28E can be a little roomy in the cups for me.

The bra is made from the same silky printed fabric that Freya typically uses on their printed bras, and the upper cup is mesh with diamond embroidery and a scalloped lace upper edge. The cups are lined with soft foam batting as are Freya and Fantasie's other padded bras. The foam on this bra seems a bit firmer than what I've seen on some other similar bras, as the cups hold their shape a little better on their own. However, it is still soft enough that drag lines and wrinkles can form, unlike in thicker foam cups. The print extends to the cradle and band, which is made from firm printed powermesh. The straps are decorated with printed fabric, and the straps here are fairly ornate, with crosses, squares, and a scalloped edge. I really like that this bra is simply trimmed with polka dot textured white bows and doesn't have any weird charms or trims. Too bad the wires here are so painful! This might be a good option for those who need really narrow wires, or someone who prefers very firm wires.

  6. This is and my Freya Mode are my first bras to actually fit! Yay!
I was wearing a bra size too big, and I finally decided to take the plunge to try something that the Bratabase recommended. It recommended three discontinued Freya half cups (Freya Tartan was one of them). So I looked at which half cups that had similar measurements/the same cut that weren't discontinued.
This bra seems to fit better than the mode only slightly, but they are the same cut and have very similar measurements. I think this one is my favourite because it seems more structured which works well for me because I have soft tissue.
I don't even get much gapping on my smaller side with this bra which is crazy.
The width is perfect, everything is great. I find it so comfy and it looks gorgeous, smooth under clothes, nice lift, perfect!

FABTF! Finally, a bra that fits (pretty well!)

Thanks to LeProfessor for the "size up in the cup" tip and the dearth of information in Bratabase, one of the four bras that I recently purchased actually fit pretty well! The other three were:

    i. Panache Andorra Full Cup Bra (5675) in 34E, which fit quite nicely albeit the pointy shape (easily fixed with nipple covers), but I had to return it as it had a small hole in the wing! Sad!
ii. Fantasie Smoothing Moulded T-shirt Bra (4510) in 34E, which proved to be a disaster as the cups were WAY too big for me. ... In retrospect, I should have sized down to a 34D. Even then I would think the cups would have gaped.
iii. B.tempt'd By Wacoal Ciao Bella Balconette (953144) in 34DDD, which I didn't quite like as it flattened my boobs and was a tad too tight. I forgot that I should have gotten a 36DDD instead but even so, the cups would have been way too shallow.

Back to the Fearne! What I love:

    - The padded straps (although I know not everybody loves padded straps but I found them to be very comfortable!)
    - The rounded shape, thanks to the padded cups. Incidentally, the padding was slightly thicker than I expected but it was still nice.
    - The stretchy band, it's stretchy but it's not overly stretchy so those who are in between bands might be better off sizing down. I'm pretty much a 34" so I stuck with a 34 band and it's pretty good so far, after about 3-4 times of wear.

What I didn't quite like but can live with:

    - The wires are quite firm so those with more sensitive skin/tissue might feel some discomfort here. Wires are still "bendable" though.
    - The half-cups are less half than I would have preferred although I think this might be due to my short(er) torso. My roots are tall-ish so it was still alright. They're less open on top though.
    - The stretchy band. I'm concerned that the band will stretch out in time, but I'll cross that bridge when I get to it.

    What to bear in mind:

    - The cups are quite projected, which works for my shape: wide, shallow but projected. I do get "wrinkles" but it could also be due to the fabric, which is on the shinier side.
    - The cups are on the taller end of the half-cup spectrum, being about 6.5" high.

Overall, I quite like this bra and am quite happy with it!

My shape: FoB, narrow shoulders, still figuring the rest out. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

This seems to be a similar shape to the Chelsea, but with a horizontal seam added. This takes away some of the shape awkwardness I had there; it's a nice round shape. The straps, though, are definitely too wide for me (as with the Chelsea). There's also an odd effect at the side--it's like the straps, however wide, are pulling everything out towards the side, which makes for some weird bulging in front of the wire.

Upsides: wide straps that are super soft and almost feel padded. Very pretty design. Wish it fit!
