Bra is still new - this is my first wearing. The bra is from May/June of 2011 - after the "amazing new fit" around that time.
This bra is designed to mimic the Fantasie smoothing bra, the non-stiff-cup version (number 4250). My initial reaction is that it's an obvious copy, and not necessarily a bad one. There need to be more of this style of bra - a soft, smooth, unseamed cup. The Fantasie version only comes down to a 30 band, which when new fits my chest on the tightest hook, and quickly becomes too loose. The good news about this FigLeaves version is even though it's also ...only a 30 band, it's a tighter "30". I'm wearing the bra on the longest/loosest hook, and it's tight enough. This suggests the bra will still work once broken in. That's definitely a plus.
An immediate negative, at least for me, is that straps. These are wider-set in the FigLeaves version. They're not quite as wide as Panache straps, but they are wide enough to be uncomfortable for me. Still, if wider-set straps work for you, and you like the Fantasie 4250 but not its price OR need a smaller band than it offers, this is looking like a great option.
I'll try to add more information as I wear the bra and it breaks in. Read more 114 more words
I was sceptical at first when I saw it right out of the box since I had never had a non-padded(lined) bra before. However, the material and the quality of the bra is outstanding, so much better than something you'd buy in the high street! Nice wide straps that don't dig in and they're really plain, no fuss, I really like that. The straps are fully adjustable and great for a shorty like me(I'm 5 feet tall/152 cm tall, this bra is suitable for short, average and tall women)
It's definitely an everyday bra, no lumps and bumps, just a smooth finish and it doesn't show through at all ...in the nude colorway. The only detailing on this bra is the little(and very subtle) bow in between the cups. The fabric is thin but sturdy and strong, not something you'll have to be careful with in case you have long nails. Strong quality. If you wanna avoid nipple show to all costs, don't buy this bra. If you get cold enough it will show through, even in the summer(which was when I bought it). Now this doesn't mean it shows at all times, definitely not. Most of the time it doesn't, because most of the time your nipples aren't hard.
First impression when I got it on: ''It's too narrow in the cups for me'' And yes, it really is. Too narrow shape for me, U-shape, but not totally like the letter of course haha, but it's way too narrow for me, it gets really uncomfortable after a while. I think I have slightly wide set boobs because I get red marks on the sides of my breast tissue after wearing it. I think this bra would suit a girl who doesn't encounter this problem frequently. I think it's down to my own shape. I could fasten it on the loosest hook at first when I got in early July, now I fasten it snugly on the middle hook. So the band is really good, doesn't stretch out too quickly.
To give you an idea of how wide my boobs are(to make it easier for you to decide if it'll be comfortable for you), the breast tissue on the sides start.... Hmm... How should I explain this? Maybe 2-3 cm ''in front of'' my armpits. I could've needed cups with more space in between but it wasn't super uncomfortable in that aspect, I can fit 3 fingers between my boobs without a bra, in this... Not so much, I'm way too pulled in to the front in this bra. I recommend this bra if you think you have the shape for it! Absolutely flawless product in terms of quality and the price is cheap!
The bands on this and Essentials Lace Wing bra are very tight. Very. The underwire channel along the band cuts into my ribcage. There is a little wrinkling across the top. After stretching the band twice to try on and once to measure, the bottom of the back elastic looks all misshapen and cheap. It is very matronly looking. The Lace Wing is prettier, though still utilitarian looking.
It can fit well initially, but like my other Figleaves non padded bras, the fabric slips down after a while and I end up with very splayed breasts. I'm not really sure why it happens. It's a little loose for me (I wear it on the tightest hooks), but that's to be expected of most 30 bands.
If sturdy cups are what you are after, this is THE bra. Armor bra. It's serious heavy duty this one.
Anyway, the bra didn't fit me so I can't really comment on anything. My ribcage measures 27.5" so obviously the bra is too big around me. Too small cups. Can't judge the fit since I will NEVER be able to get it in my size. I'm not too bummed about that though because this bra is kinda ugly. Comfortable band fabric though.
