    36HH

    Didn't fit

The bra is comfortable and soft, but I really didn’t like the style on me. I’d recommend it for someone who wants comfort and full coverage but who doesn’t necessarily care about getting a stylish bra. I think it’s probably prettier in the purple color way.

I did not purchase this bra, but tried it on to help me narrow down my size. I tried on the 40H, 36HH, and started to try on the 36H, but it was so tight I had trouble getting it on (I put my bras on backwards and turn them then pull on the cups). It felt too tight to turn it, so ... I didn’t get to test the cup fit of the smaller size. This 36HH fit the closest, but it seems like either the cup is too big or the cut is wrong (probably both). I wanted to post a fit request, but didn’t have time to measure the bra and it looks like I can’t submit without measurements.

I put the bra back on fast to take a quick picture so I’m not sure if the band rolled the first time I put it on or if that was me rushing to get it back on for the picture.

I really wanted to try it on in the 38H, but the Nordstrom I went to was out of 38H in any style of bra in Elomi. I’m thinking either I needed to try on the 38H or maybe the 36H would've fit if I could actually get it on. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" />

I appreciate how you scrambled to add data to Bratabase despite not buying the bra, vrwriter ! Hope someone here with more fit knowledge can help you!

    • 1

I totally agree! Most would not try to get data for BtB in a fitting room!
At any rate, it does not look to me like the cup is too big in this pictures. I see the wrinkling, but it doesn't look like it's in the normal spots a bra would wrinkle if the cups were too large, it appears to be more of a shape mis-match to me.
Perhaps next time you can have someone help you buckle the bra in the back instead off putting it on backwards and spinning it around to the front? It would certainly allow you to be a better judge on the fit factor between the 36H & 36HH.
I am sort-of sure that the 38H will have wider wires, and it does not look to me like you need wider wires than what is on this bra.

    • 3

This style looks too tall and wide for you--so in effect yes it's too "big" cos there is a ton of wasted cup volume. It's too shallow; you need something with different proportions. that offers the same room for your tissue where it is (mostly on the front of your body) without all the unnecessary cup acreage above and to the side.

    • 1

Thank you all! It did feel pretty comfortable, but I wasn't sure if I should consider it a size mismatch or a shape mismatch. I knew the shape was terrible, but I wasn't sure if the wrinkling was solely due to the shape, so I really appreciate your feedback on that! I generally prefer bras with front projection and do best with half-cup styles. My boobs are slightly full on bottom and I'm finding that cups with a 7" width tend to work well. I did like the Elomi Amelia though. I got it a year ago and that had a wide cup but somehow worked well and was pretty comfortable until it got out of shape and my boobs started changing again. It wasn't my favorite shape, but the initial comfort and support was great.

I had a couple narrow, Cleo bras that did give excellent projection and fit almost exactly, but they were slightly too narrow for everyday, all-day comfort.

I will admit that I like a nice, rounded shape and have put up with some imperfect bras that gave me a great rounded look...my old Freya bras were great for that.

    • 2

Yup, this is a typical problem for Cate and its clones. The stretchy band pulls the wires back at the side resulting in all that gapping at the bottom side of the wire. You can see it on all their models too. Very few people have boob there so I'm not sure why they make it like that but it's a common fit problem for Elomi.

I think if the 36H was too small upside down and backwards then in general 36 bands will be small. I think, looking at the strain of the band in your pictures (band rolling up, wires pulled wide) that a 38 might be a better band for you but of course brands and models vary wildly and especially in this size range. Yay for us!

So you need wires measuring ~7 inches in something between a 36HH and 40GG. Have you tried Sculptresse as a brand yet? Definitely try 38 and 40 bands as most run quite firm. Now that you are a cup size up from your previous size the wires might not be too narrow, although some models do have quite narrow wires. Good luck!

    • I'm thinking I may try to go back to the boutique today and exchange the Parfait bra I got since it's still unworn. I don't know if they can do anything about the CK Victoria since I wore it. Hopefully I can try on some 38H or 36HH and figure out the best overall size.

I think I may have to break out the sewing machine this week or next week and take in all of my bands and see what happens. I generally machine wash my bras, though I know you're not supposed to. But I live in a house with lots of people and don't feel comfortable hanging soaking wet bras in the shower every week. I try not to dry them in the dryer unless I'm in a hurry. But I know between regular wear and washing in the machine, they are probably wearing out a lot faster.

    • 2

vrwriter there's no need to hang up handwashed bras soaking wet! After handwashing, lay a used (but dry) towel on a flat, hard surface, place the freshly washed bra on it and "roll" it up as many times as you can inside the towel. Then firmly press down with your palms all along the length of the towel-wrapped bra to absorb as much water as you can. Do it again with the other side of the towel or another towel if you want extra security, then the bra will not be dripping and you can hang it up in your room. (You can always place a small basin underneath if you're afraid about a couple drops, but the towel trick is sufficient for me to hang bras anywhere.)

    • Thank you for the tip, wendybien ! I've been able to hang the damp but not wet washing-machine washed ones, so I will try this method and see how it works. I know some people use special soap/detergent to wash their bras. Is there one you like to use?

    Caitlyn 34JJ, rouge AW12

    pros
    + very comfortable AND supportive
    + soft and smooth fabric
    + strong wires
    + padded wire channels
    + comes in pretty colors

    cons
    - very very wide wires
    - band feels a bit loose, wearing it on tightest setting (I'd prefer a 32 band)
    - fabric comes up very high, no bra for low cut tops
    - gore is a bit wide... does float about 0.5cm away on top but that's because my boobs are very close set.

I really like this bra! It used to fit me best when I was carrying a few extra pounds. The band is a bit too big and there is some slight gaping on top where the ... cups meet the straps. The wires are like all Elomi wires much too wide on me! There is about 1.5-2cm empty fabric on the side. Despite those issues it's still a very supportive bra. It's also one of the most comfortable bras I've ever tried. It supports me when I am active but I can also take a nap in it without any discomfort. I could even use it as a sleep bra, I think. I barely feel the wires! The shoulder straps are wide and fully adjustable. The shape is okay, not pointy but also not very uplifted. It makes boobs look more wide from the front and less projected from the side.

  3. This... is actually a bra I can run in. No, seriously. It has boob-un-jiggling support for my size, which is what I asked for when I went bra shopping. I have an active job, and although I love pretty frilly bras, I needed something I could bend over in, haul heavy things in, and not have to worry about tipping out the top of my bra, or jiggling in a distracting way.

I do not consider this a pretty bra. It's utilitarian, and it fits really well. I'd say the band is a little snug, but not to the point where it's uncomfortable. I should note that I'm ... somewhat fat, and have very small ribs with squishy fat over them, so if you're very firm under the bust, and your measurement is ~35.5m you wouldn't need a 34 band size.

The one con with this, is that the centre gore, where the wires end, can become uncomfortable by the end of the day. If this bra was about 1/2" lower, it would be perfect. I don't know why the "how it fits" section says it doesn't fit. It does! While it's not my favourite bra, it is perfect for what I require day-to-day.

*NOTE! I have "back fat". I prefer my bras to cover it in the back, as resting on it is VERY uncomfortable, so you'll notice that the band is not perfectly level.

Fits better @40:8 than @42:7 42F. The gore tacks really well, first time ever. Cups are wide enough for my breast tissue, also the first time with an underwire. I quad just a bit, not enough to go up to 40G (UK), my guess.

This bra give me a lot more support than I have had in a long time and fit well and reliably through my weight flux. The underwire never started to poke through and that is important to note. It loosened very little between washings, keeping it true to size while stretching enough with movement to be quite comfy.

This Raspberry Caitlyn was purchased in the summer of 2014. Until I discovered Bratabase and Bravissimo, I had come to the conclusion that the Caitlyn was the only bra I could comfortably wear. The Caitlyn's would not last long for me as they would stretch out and become unwearable after a year of use. They were certainly a significant upgrade on the Elila 1305s I wore for the previous 5-10 years but both are now a distant memory.
The wires on this Raspberry Caitlyn are almost 2 inches longer than any of my wellfitting Alana's and combined with the extra 2-4 inches of band length, the wires end ... way too far back. I thought about returning the Raspberry bra but convinced myself not to, thinking I will just grow into it. I also found this bra to give me the most east/west look I have ever had. As I look back over time, I realize how misguided I was thinking this was my size.
This Raspberry Caitlyn is the only bra I have ever seen/owned with a label that included size 95P.

    Winter 2020-2021
A fellow bratabaser started up an Elomi based Chat adventure and it made me wonder how the Caitlyn's I still have fit. It had been over 4 years since I last wore either of my 2 remaining Caitlyn's but I still remember how it looked and felt. At least, I thought I did. I was quite horrified by what I saw in the mirror. For starters, the apex seemed to be beyond my arms! Ok, maybe they were where my arms are but still, this was beyond an east-west look.
The wings/band looked hideous to me. I think this was a result of my being so accustomed to the bands on all of my Bravissimo bras. The word that comes to mind is matronly but that doesn't quite the look to me.
The worst thing I saw in the mirror though was how high up the cups pointed. I do not recall having this look when the Caitlyn was in regular use. This wasn't just a slight bit of upward pointing. I'm pretty sure that if I went out in public with this bra on, people would look at me strangely and wonder what is wrong with me and my bra.
I could not take this bra off fast enough and will never wear this bra again.

    • It's been close to 2 years since I last wore this Camelia and since I was staying home today I thought wearing this around the house would be ok. WRONG!!! The band was so loose and offered next to no support while the wires on the right side were stabbing me so much.

I have lost weight since I last wore my Caitlyns regularly, which is like six years ago or more. IIRC, I am now about 10 pounds lighter now than I was then and realizing this really made my day Unfortunately, it is time to permanently retire this Caitlyn,

This bra was good enough to wear even though it did not fit perfectly, so I wore it until I broke the wire on the right had side (my smaller breast). I am doing this review after the fact using the fit of the bra now.

Band: Okay. I can still put both of my palms under the band at the sides and easily pull it away a few inches from my body.
Gore: Does not ever lie flat. It floats above the gap between the breasts.
Cups: I spill out of top of both cups, and spills out of bra on smaller breast where the wire is ... broken on the side. Either the wire from the larger breast is pulling the bra over towards its side or the smaller breast is wider. (the wires on my smaller breast are always the ones that get broken or poke out the top at the gore, no idea why)
Underwire: lies flat against my rib cage except for at the very front of the bra which clings to the breasts. the Underwire follows the root of both breast okay, but comes in a little too much on the smaller breast near the outside under the arm.
Straps: tight, but I can fit two fingers underneath easily

I put good under quality, because even though the wire broke, I am pretty sure that had more to do with me forcing it then the quality of the bra.

Hi Pearljam ! Sounds like the band is still big and the cups small. Did you try a 40H in this?

    • 1

      correction : did you try a 40GG?
I read all your reviews. The bands 42 and 44 are consistently bigger for you. I definitely recommend you try a smaller band, cup volume of 40G will be same as 42FF, which sound like they are smaller. So do give 40GG and 40Ha try! Cheers

  8. This is the first properly fitted bra I've worn in years, after finally relenting and buying something with the right cup size.

Good points: Very comfortable, and supportive. At first I was taken aback by how unsquished I felt. But when I looked in the mirror, everything was lifted up and looked nice and round, not squished! Also, the Caitlyn comes in colors other than nude and black! I went with purple. It's a sensible bra that is also pretty with the lace and a bow at the front. The straps don't fall down. The cups felt a little big at first, but once I scooped/swooped the cups were ... filled in nicely.

Unsure points: I think there should be another hook at the back closure; however, this may just be because I'm used to Cacique bras and their 5-hook closures. I also wish the bottom of the band didn't roll, but that's to be expected when you're squishy like me. It rolls pretty bad.

ETA: I've recently lost some weight, and the cups are just a tad loose on me. I will keep it around for PMSing.
