The CK Desire has a bunch of bad reviews, so you can imagine my enthusiasm when I received one in a Breakout Bras grab bag a while back. Having seen some very bad fits on user submitted pics, I expected my boobs to suffer a similar fate. The cut reminds me of the CK Elegance without all the silly swirly cup embellishments. For the record, I had the worst luck with the CK Elegance in 28GG.
First impressions: the bra itself looks pretty standard. It’s a multiway and potentially a strapless plunge (if you like taking big risks in life) with some pretty big goofy straps in ...a 28GG. Did they make the straps out of waistband elastic? Shit’s too wide to make me feel desirable. BOOM. See what I did there? Another thing about these straps is how easily they come off the bra. If the bra is strapped on your shoulder, there’s enough strap tension there to keep those bad boys from self-detaching and making a quick dive for the floor. However, as soon as there’s any bit of slack or especially when you are pulling the straps over and onto your shoulder, some unknown force will send the straps flying off your bra leaving you no choice but to reattach them while wearing the bra.
Now on to shape. My, oh my. I do understand what other reviewers have noted; the cup design gives a very peculiar shape. Imagine your boob assumes a rounded teardrop shape in this 3 part cup bra. Now picture that the shape is round except for your inner boob where there’s a sharp corner running along the upper panel of the 3 part cup as if they shoved a ruler into this section of the bra. This look is no bueno for the following shapes: FOT, FOB, evenly full, shallow, projected, medium projection (did I miss any shapes?). Additionally, this bra also has a tendency to drag boobs to point east/west as if they recently got into an argument and are not on talking terms. You can see this effect mostly on my forward facing picture due to the telling shadows. I was probably having PMS boobs that week and was majorly overfilling the cups which appears to have countered a bit of the “ruler-lined” effect of this bra. Denser boobs will fare slightly better shape-wise in this bra, but you’d basically need to put a shot put ball in the cup if you wanted to round out that weird edge.
FYI: Even, wide, centered breasts and broad shoulders. 33" around and 26" snug under gives me 26F but I wear 28E/Fs and 30DDs because it's easier to find those.
I love how low-cut this bra is. I need low-cut bras because I have nearly no space between my breasts and any underwire between them is uncomfortable and stabs/pushes my breast tissue all over, which is unattractive and not good for maintaining shape.
There is not any push-up padding in the bra. As with all my padded CK bras, the cups are shallow and wrinkling occurs at the bottom. I went up one cup from my typical sister size, which I ...generally do for CK.
The straps are entirely adjustable (and quite long if you need length, but not so long that I adjusted them and the plastic part ended in an unusual place) and seem sturdy. They are a bit wide for my taste. I like that they can be criss-crossed or whatever, but I wish they weren't so wide! Now I cannot use any other removable straps on this bra (thinner ones or clear ones or cute ones) because they will not fit onto it (the strap holding area is too wide of a piece of fabric on this bra).
You cannot wear this bra as a strapless bra and expect support. It is too flexible in the cups.
The seams on the cups or the black-on-black pattern haven't been visible in appropriately-colored tees (medium to dark colors).
CONCLUSION: I've had this bra for over a year and I hardly wear it as it's not really cute and the cups are kind of pathetic, but it fits fine. Good for racerback tanks. Read more 169 more words
This is pretty much exactly what I want in a bra... except slightly more coverage than I'd want. It fits my splayed, FoB breasts perfectly! The band is super snug and the straps are multi-way's so I can wear it with racer-back tops. Update: Bought a second one and still love it. Hopefully I don't get bigger before I get a good amount of use out of these two!
This is a really pretty bra, when it's not on me. When I'm wearing it, it is an absolute disaster! The cups run small, the top edge sort of flares out (which may cause gaping on some, but I still had quadboob). The part where the seam is happens to be is very pointy and unflattering because the piece right above it goes inwards before flaring outwards.
Excellent multi-way bra that works well for my shallow shape. Band is quite tight for a CK, which is simply wonderful for me. A true 28" or an inbetweenie might consider upsizing in the band. The cups are shallow, and definitely smaller than CK's unpadded styles.
Another attempt at a plunge bra. Another fail. It's elegant and practical looking. The gore is too wide and the cup separation is too wide, since I'm super close with a lot center fullness. It was comfortable, but I would have fallen out of the center. The cups were too wide too. Gave me a really odd boxy shape.
The cups are a bit stretchy and very soft. Great low/wide cut for wearing with halter tops. The cup separation is too much for me however, so I spill out a little toward the centere. Neither the seams or fabric pattern can be seen through even very thin tops. The band is accurate, yet stretchy, which works for me since I prefer to wear the bands a little looser for halter necks. Since the cups are so soft, wearing it as a strapless is not an option. In general I would prefer the cups to be a bit more firm. I LOVE that the straps are so wide because unlike average width straps, when worn as a halter neck, it actually feels comfortable and supportive without flipping, twisting, or cutting into you!
Comfortable! I don't like the more angular shape it gives me with or without straps. I was hoping this could be a strapless, but the cups are way too soft and need the straps (on top of an even more lackluster shape). Nice design and a cool multiway though. I've ended up using mine for swimming since I lack a breast friendly swim top. I nice low gore, but the cups tend to show under plunge-y shirts for me. Not the design, or the cup shape (though I recall the shape showing too), but the actual bra cups arced in too much. Band seems like a 28.
