  1. Dessous Mesh Underwire Bra (CD2000)

    Didn't fit

I loved the look of the Dessous for ages, so when I saw it for sale on ASOS in my favourite colourway ('pink lemonade') it was time to BUY.

Internet research suggested I should go down a back size and up a cup size...so after a strange thought process I can't quite replicate now I decided to get 34ff instead of my current standard Eveden 34f.

The 34ff is definitely the wrong size. I would strongly recommend going down a band size - and I say this as someone who prefers a looser (+2 or even +3) band. However, I'm not sure it's all about looseness; the Dessous ... band is really stretchy and just seems unsupportive, somehow...

As for cup size. Well, I sized up as suggested - and I can't actually tell if this was a mistake. I don't know if the cup is too big for me or just completely incompatible with my shape. Maybe both? There is a massive amount of room at the top of the cup, and some at the bottom. However, the width of the wires is pretty much spot on, and there is not quite enough central depth, so my poor sad nipples get squashed.

My theory is that the Dessous is suited to shallow breasts with tall roots (if that makes sense). I have an almost round breast root, whereas the cup of the Dessous seems designed to fit a breast that covers much more the chest vertically. The cup cannot cope with projection, either, at least on top. I feel like I'd need to get at least one cup size smaller to fit vertically, but then the bra would cut in at the top. Plus the wires would sit on my breasts at the side. Sigh...

I've thought about this so much because I LOVE the look of the bra and wanted to get another that fit. It is completely, perfectly sheer, and the 'pink lemonade' colour combination is gorgeous. The mesh is a little rough to the hand, but perfectly comfortable on the breast. It's a beautiful bra, and I'd get another if I thought it would work on me. Sadly, it's just not going to happen.

    Fits

Underwired bra with teal fishnet net cups (double layered in the bottom of cup) and black velvet trim at band, around the cups, and front half of straps. Small velvet bow at the gore. High apex cups connect to straps in a triangle at the shoulder. Straps are half-adjustable and feel nicely firm due to the velvet. Deep U-shaped back with three hook and eyes. Plush black channeling continues the design on the inside of the bra.

Gives a soft, natural, encapsulated lift, not for those who prefer globes! As usual for Claudette this bra is definitely on the narrow side, but not as narrow as the ... Polish brands. All materials are very soft and comfortable. This band is a smidge firmer than Claudette Dessous Mesh Underwire Bra (CD2000), but I would still recommend sizing down. So far I have found both Sophias - Claudette Sophia Icon Padded Bra (101001), Claudette Sophia Minx Sweetheart Demi Bra (101025), and the Claudette Cool Cotton Underwire Bra (CD8008) to be sufficiently firm for my regular band size.

I will be actively looking for more bras in a similar cut to this one, because I greatly prefer it to the silhouette currently in fashion - sort of the fuller busted equivalent to the more unstructured trend going in the indie/designer scene right now. I've seen some promising previews and am keeping my eye out for new colors of this one.

    • Thank you for reviewing this, I'm trying to decide whether or not to get one since it just appeared on sale at Claudette Encore. Is this bra's shape more similar to the Dessous or to the Cool Cotton? I do well with the Dessous, but the Cool Cotton's cups are too tall and wide for me. Does the Fishnet Scoop have any tendency to cut into the front of your underarm, the way the Cool Cotton sometimes does?

    • 1

I find the wings are shaped closer to Dessous than to the Cotton. I haven't noticed any issue in the underarm area but the Minx and Cotton are fine under the arms for me there too so I might not be the best person to ask. I might have a minute to measure sometime soon (Monday I would think) if that would help.

    • lcl0706 do you happen to know anything about the shape of this bra? You were so helpful to me a few weeks ago with the differences between Claudette Dessous and Cool Cotton. Your advice was spot-on that Dessous would be a good fit for my narrow, projected, FOB, short roots. I wonder if your Claudette expertise extends to the Fishnet Scoop? :)

Measurements are in. If it helps any, I am mostly even in shape, slightly favoring the bottom, and projected. I have a broad back and am narrow/close set, which is why I rarely have trouble with cups in the underarm.

Coral I've actually never heard of this bra lol! I would say, based on appearances and measurements, it's somewhere between the Dessous and Cool Cotton in shape and projection.

    • Thanks guys. I'll take a chance and order one.

  3. Paramour Underwire Bra (101015008)

i really like this bra! the color is a gorgeous deep wine red, the materials are comfortable (mesh and something silky feeling), and its very, *very* close to fitting. i would say its probably the closest fit ive found yet. and to top it off, i got in on sale on the claudette website with matching (also comfy) panties! ive had it for a little while now, but ive only worn in about 3 or 4 times.

i love that the straps arent too wide, finally! the band fit on the first hook right away, though they stretch quickly due to the thin mesh material its made of, and ... i not think the second hook is probably better. currently, on the first hook i can fit a fist underneath, but the band doesnt ride up, so im still good. the back is U shaped, and the band has 3 glorious hooks. the wires feel nice and narrow, though a little bit short on the underarms. ive marked them as fine however, because its honestly a tiny quibble and i want this bra as 'Fits' for recommendations.

for most bras, i shove the wires from the gore down (where theyre usually too tall and wide) so that they are taller in the underarms, and then its fine. for this bra, the gore area doesnt feel too wide or too tall, but i shove the wires anyway to get more armpit coverage. all that seems to happen is that i lose a little bit of lift, but eh. i generally quad towards the center of my breasts anyway (i think im center-full) so im not hugely concerned with not having the gore there because it would probably eventually irritate me. if i was any good at sewing, i would see about taking in the gore so that empty space went away, but the mesh makes me nervous.

i do get a little bit of wrinkling in the upper part of the ups, near the straps, and the mesh section feels like its a bit looser than its meant to be. given that i have very little upper fullness, im not surprised, and because the cups is stretchy i dont get any gaping so its not visible under shirts. i think it does mean i fill the cups out less, so my shape is much more of a natural tear drop than a round one, and i have some definite bounce while wearing this. that issue is one of the reasons i say this isnt perfect for me- i would like to feel more secure in the cups and more lifted. i dont think sizing down would help, because its more a shape issue than a size issue. i get this in nearly every 3 piece cup, and this one only works because of the stretch mesh. if it were another bra, like a freya 3 piece, i get a lot of cutting in along the top edge and huge empty space in the upper half of the cup.

my main issue is that it is *very* clear where my nipples are in this bra. i imagine some of that is because my apex isnt where the bra wants it, so my nipple is right at the seam between the mesh and the silk half, where it shifts around a bit (not irritating, but does make it a bit...peaky during wear). combined with the soft cup of this bra (not padded like freya half cups im used to), and it makes it where im not completely comfortable wearing this with a thin t shirt.

all that being said, this bra is hella comfy, and i probably going to get some more! now if only they made it in a nude...

UPDATE 4/18/17: this is a work bra for me now (aka an 'i dont mind if it gets ruined' bra). the band stretched pretty fast, so even on the tightest hooks it rides up a little after a few hours of work. it now measures 29 flat and easily stretches to 36. the material doesnt really hold me down much, so not a whole lot of support, and the too short wires at the side means some tissue escapes as the day goes on too. its not bad for work, since i moving around a lot and i dont mind readjusting or really care about shape, but i dont chose it when i want to go out or care about my appearance.

    Didn't fit

I normally wear a 32FF/G but I found this bra in store at an extremely low price so I picked my sister size of 34FF. The cups are a good fit- the gore tacks, the wire encases my breast tissue, and it feels very supportive for such thin material. Since I'm close set, FOT, with soft tissue I do get a very small amount of quading on the inner cups. It's not noticeable through my clothes so it's not a big deal for me.
This is the first unlined 3 part bra that gives me a round shape- I usually get a softly pointed shape.
The only negative for me is how stretchy the band is. I compared it to other 34 bands that I own and it's still the biggest in my possession. It's brand new and I'm on the last hook and I'm still able to pull it a significant distance away from my body.
This is my first experience with any Claudette bra and I would purchase another in my true size.

Claudette Encore is a wonderful thing! $10/bra, so of course I tried my size down since the fit on 36F wasn't perfect. The 34 band is nice and supportive, and the little bit of wrinkling I had in the cup on the 36 is gone. Checkmark the size on this one.

Lovely bra, beautiful colors. Hard to comment because the bra is far too small in the cups and far too big in the band. The effect is that it just sort of covers the lower half of my boobs. Most 34 bands are plenty tight for me, so I think this band runs quite stretchy. The center gore sits about 1.5 inches out from my body.

My larger side gets the quad-boob effect, and my smaller side has a bit of empty space near the wing. Claudette only goes to a UK G cup, so this brand probably will not be for me.

There is no lining -- it's just mesh under black lace. I think my boobs need more substantial material to hold their weight. This model just doesn't seem quite sturdy enough for me. Also, the underwire presses against my breast tissue on both sides.

This bra is not owned any more
