    I bought this bra in 32DD as they did not have a 30DDD. Band was a bit looser than many 32's I think, but I liked the bra style and other aspects enough that I made some alterations so I could keep it. That being said, I will not make too many comments on the "band fit" because of the alterations I made and will focus more on other aspects of the bra and its style.

    I have the bra in both cappucino and black. Initially the cappucino felt a bit scratchier and less soft than the black model (maybe due to dyes used), but this evened out with ... some washes. I do prefer the look of the black one, the gold/bronze undertone to it makes it a bit more interesting than just plain black or the cappucino one!

    Full cup coverage, but the lace and bow details make it more feminine rather than "grandma". While not "over the top va-va-voom sexy", I find these are lovely everyday understated feminine and sexy bras, and I wear both of them regularly. I also like the contrast stitch detailing on the straps.

    Center gore is wider, which may be an issue for those with very narrow breasts. It really dug into me before I adjusted band, but once I had the "right" size it is very comfortable and lays very flat against my sternum so if you are in right size for you, it is probably fine.

    Gives a very rounded and separated look, breast tissue is well centered to the front. I don't have any escape of breast tissue into my armpit, etc. Based on the stretch lace, and the cup style, this bra probably fits those with fuller/rounder breasts best. There may be quite a lot of wrinkling or empty space at top for those with less rounded breasts.

    Didn't fit

    This review is for the Chantelle Rive Gauche T-back Spacer Bra 70E, colour Black.

    General comments:

    I bought this bra because I felt the 70D really was too small, even though I still wouldn't consider this model my style: narrowly placed straps and racer backs make my already wide shoulders appear even wider. They're also not ideal for the wide-necked shirts I like to wear. Furthermore, higher centre gores and more horizontally cut cup edges (half cups) work better for my shape and give me a more fitting cleavage than deep plunges like this. However, this model is so ridiculously comfortable that I haven't been wearing anything else since I ... got my first two 70Ds.

    Bra description:

    A front closing plunging racer back design with plain and seamless, soft, very slightly stretchy cups made out of ultralight foam-like 'spacer' knit. The cups of the 70E differ from the 70D in that there is an additional non-stretch side support sling hidden inside. The back is made out of a super soft stretch lace backed with soft, sheer, stretch mesh. The thin, smooth straps are embellished with a contrasting running stitch detail. Silver coloured findings and front closing clasp with Chantelle logo. Small silver coloured tag on the right bottom side with Chantelle brand name. The whole appearance is simultaneously plain, somewhat utilitarian, yet somehow delicate, feminine and fresh as well -- in my opinion a successful yet difficult to describe blend, really.

    I just love the spacer knit. It's really quite miraculous stuff: super soft, ultralight and slightly stretchy, but at the same remarkably supportive. It gives a flattering, smooth shape without feeling bulky or stiff. Nipples might show through very slightly. I'm quite smitten with the stuff and I'll definitely stay on the lookout for more in this material.

    Bra fit:

    I measure 27" underbust (tightly) so for all practical purposes I should have no business donning a 70 band. However, I've come to the conclusion that I'm one of those persons for whom the +0 method just doesn't work: I have a super conical torso, a somewhat muscular back, no squish and my breasts sit high on my chest: I just really need the looser band. Having said that, the band of this Chantelle Rive Gauche T-back Spacer Bra 70E fits really firmly. I'd say it feels firmer than the band of the 70D I also have and judging by the way the very flexible wires seem somewhat stretched it maybe even is a little bit too tight, although comfort- and support-wise it really is spot on. Any looser and I'm sure the band would start riding up.

    As to the fit of the cups I'm a bit puzzled: from the front they clearly fit better than the 70D -- almost no sign of quadboob left. Looking closer however it is quite clear I'm totally not filling out the cups near the wires. Also, when I take the bra off the markings show I have A LOT of empty space at the sides. Strangely enough, compared to the 70D the wires in this 70D really aren't that much wider. The main difference is that they are A LOT longer. I'm thinking that the cups are simply so much roomier that they do not pull back on the wires and therefore allow the wires, which are indeed quite flexible, to become slightly overstretched, flattening the bottom of the cups in the process. What I don't quite understand is how the size difference between the 70D -- which clearly is too small in terms of cup colume -- and the 70E -- which then clearly is too large in terms of cup volume -- can be THIS big. It puzzles and frustrates me because it just seems to confirm my fear that no bra will ever fit me the way it should https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" />

    Anyway, the spacer material is so forgiving that it really doesn't bother me: the shape is great and support doesn't seem compromised. Also, I just love the longer wires and higher wings: they feel so much more supportive and comfortable!

    Usually with cups that come up this high towards the straps I don't quite fill them out towards the top. However, this doesn't seem too much of an issue with this bra. IF there even is excess space there, thanks to the forgiving material it really is not noticeable. The armhole is slightly tight though -- it's simply cut too straight -- for my short upper torso and high-on-chest breasts, which is something I might try and change if I finds it bothers me more than it should.

    As said, the shape this bra gives me is really quite good. It's nothing compared to the super rounded and lifted 'Regency' cleavage my beloved Rhea gives me but it's a separated, understated, and natural look that's perfect both for 'around the house' as well as underneath clothes. Even though it's ever so slightly East-West it's not unflattering on my frame. I would actually say that this is how I feel they look best. Instead of putting them 'up and out' this bra keeps my breasts close to my chest and therefore more how and where they are naturally. The best thing, however, is that it really makes my breasts appear nice and round and anything but pointy which is one of their natural features I'm none too keen on. And the cups are just so soft! I keep touching them, because they just feel yummy!

    Conclusion:

    For me this bra is a typical case of comfort over style -- or even fit. I scored a bunch more 70Es in both Black and Cappuccino on eBay and even though it's still far from the perfect fit, I'm perfectly happy wearing them.

    Wireless and spacer foam are some of my favorite bra traits so I had to try this bra. It's pretty different from the other thick moulded wireless bras out there.

    Thin and breathable cups. The cut and spacer foam seem to form to my shape better than others, preventing folding at the bottom of the cup. The shape is flattened and compressed, a bit small for me overall though.

    I was tempted to keep this at first as a lightweight bra for summer, but the cups are just a bit too wide at my armpits and they cut in a bit too much on top.

    This is a beautiful bra. The gore doesn’t quite sit flush, I do think I would probably want to see if a 30f or 32e would fit better. Either way it still fits comfortable even if not absolutely perfectly. Could be due to the age of the bra. Bought it used a few years back.

    ABOUT THIS BRA
    An unpadded, seamed, full cup, underwire bra with top stretch.
    This is the Chantelle Rive Gauche with the 3-part cup (3281), not the Riva Gauche T-shirt bra.

    Purchasing: Purchased in black for $58.96 using Amazon free Prime shipping & returns (not Amazon Wardrobe). Available in black, beige, and peach only. (Other sizes have fun colors.)

    Band, strap, and cup construction identical to 32E (70F - Chantelle » Rive Gauche 3 Part Cup (3281)), except fabric colors (black outer fabrics with beige linings).

    ABOUT ME: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts
    * average projection (not shallow or very projected)
    * average-set (one finger width of space between breasts)
    * ... wide roots (extend to the mid-axillary line)
    * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full)
    * short root height, average vertical placement
    * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away)
    * conical shape (but will squish to round)
    * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FOB due to short roots and soft tissue
    * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame
    * front (anterior) rib flares

    FIT:

    Band rides up. Wings too short -- flesh escapes (but not painfully pinched by upper arm).

    Gore is comfortable, tacks, good spacing, height fine.

    Straps are NOT too wide-set and adjust short enough.

    Tail of Spence (ToS) is visible, smooth (not bulging) and happy (no painful cutting in but outer cup).

    Cups: Wires enclose all breast tissue but cannot keep it inside the cup (probably b/c band is too big so wires not well supported). Upper cup is smooth on larger breast with tiny wrinkles on smaller breast (acceptable, if this was the only fit issue). Bottom of cup and apex are filled nicely (not too shallow at wire or apex).

    Shaping: From the side, give an acceptable lifted, projected (good, not great), and slightly pointy shape. From the front, gives a wide (east-west) shape.

    Appearance under Clothing: Seams show through a thin tee-shirt (despite marketing of smooth seams). Invisible under a boat-neck. Under a sleeveless shirt, the edge of the wing peeks out of armhole and straps show on shoulders.

    ASSESSMENT & PLAN:
    * Tried this model because it is recommended for average projection and center pull straps. I choose this size (UK 32DD, EU 70E) based on Bratabase measurements (cup width = 5", cup depth = 9").
    * I agree with these recommendations and measurements.
    * Also tried +1 cup size (UK 32E, EU 70F) but the poorly supported wire (band too big) allowed boob to escape under the wire (in the armpits) making the cups appear too big (but borderline quadding when all boob inside cup).
    * Band too big, cups fit, straps fit, tail of Spence happy. Want to try in 30-band, but not made.

    * Chantelle uses French sizing. Bratabase displays this brand using European sizing. This review is for a UK 32DD (US 32DD, EU 70E, FR 85E).

    Band:
    * Outer layer is a beige stretch mesh. Inner layer is a pink, nearly opaque stretch knit.
    * elastic at top of band
    * no seaming nor boning for wing support
    * continuous band - wires lower than wings
    * back closure
    ** 4 columns of hooks

    Straps:
    * smooth elastic
    * soft (don't stand up on their own)
    * full adjust
    * leotard back

    Cups:
    * 3-seamed (4-section) full cup (center pull straps) ...
    * unpadded underwire
    * The top panel is made of a beige mesh that stretches vertically much more than horizontally.
    * Outer panel of cup (side support) is made with a beige mesh that stretches horizontally much more than vertically (opposite of the top edge of the cup).
    * Rest of cup made with a non-stretch beige mesh.
    * Top edge of cup is unlined. Rest of cup lined with a PINK, non-stretch mesh.
    * soft cups (no molding or padding)

    Cups:

    * smooth line at top of cup (only because so much breast tissue is sitting outside the wire, pushed out by too small cups and giant band)
    * wrinkles at bottom the cup (not enough immediate projection at the wire)
    * fit was too bad to judge projection

    Straps:
    * feel far apart but don't slip
    * adjust short enough

    Comfort & Fit Summary
    * band too big, cups too small

    Beautiful bra which fits me very well. Gives a natural-ish but rounded, cakes in a plate shape to my fuller on bottom breasts. My breasts don't seem larger or more "in your face", just rounded and shown in a classy, discreetly sexy way. Neither markedly shallow nor markedly projected.

    Material is firmer than it looks and comfortable. The embroidery is quite beautiful and I love the opal charm. Very classy!

    Enough time and wear has passed that I know how this bra behaves when older / more worn. The band stretches but does not become floppy, so while I am now wearing it in the most inner set of hooks, it does not slide during the day. The material on the cups has deformed a little as well, and the bra is clearly ending its useful life, but I can say that this material has lasted more than other bras.

    This is both a pretty bra and a quality bra. I'll probably be looking around for more

    Tempted to hang on to this bra, but it's just kind of middle of the road.

    I think it gives a more rounded shape than many of my wireless bras, but there's also more empty space in the cups as I move around while still being too closed on top. The shape just isn't great for me.

    The band is a bit looser or more of a true 32 than I'm used to. The straps are stretchy and longer but fully adjustable. They convert to racerback with a j-hook, but that's hard to do when you have to tighten the straps all the way to the tops of your shoulders!

    I've not worn it a full day yet-so I can't say how it wears long term, but out of all the 40-50 bras I tried on this one was the winner! It's perfect for a lined/molded t-shirt type bra, smooth edges, round uplifted shape, it is not full coverage, but it's not a plunge or cleavage creator either. I was in between cup sizes E & F: F has some gaping at the very top and E has every so slightly spillage. I found this at Nordstrom rack for $27+ so far, it's a keeper.

    Love the color! Light purple/true periwinkle. The band fits well, with very supportive flat outer lace and inner mesh. The bandless front is great, also makes the gore shorter. Great for close-set breasts! The straps are kicked in a little in the front, but even more so in the back; a wonderful feature for narrow shoulders.
    Unfortunately for me, the underwire and/or cup is too long/shallow and I don't fill out the bottom of the cup. It sits on my ribcage instead.
    If you are FoT and shallow, this would be a great bra for you. But not for me.

    This bra is super comfortable, but doesn't fit the criteria I had when buying it; namely a nude bra that I could wear under a white button-down. The lace is very textured and shows up under fabric that is too thin or slightly sheer. It is, however, a great full-coverage bra for full busts. Definitely not something you could wear under a tank or a dress, but I can run to the bus without worrying that I'll have to subtly put an entire boob back into the cup, or hike my straps all the way back up my arms once I get there. I've had it about six months and worn it about a dozen times (I don't usually wear a bra) whenever I need something comfortable but classy under a dress shirt or something. Not the cutest bra, but it does the job.

Then I started getting picky with it and I found a few issues: the gore gaps a bit at the bottom and I get a small amount of pinching at the top of the cup. I think also it may be a bit too full coverage for my liking. It is a really nice bra in general.

    The band on the bra is very stretchy, even on the tightest hook it's not very firm. My underbust is about 31". I get slight quadboob after scoop and swoop, not enough to be very noticable under shirt. This bra is REALLY comfortable and gives a nice round shape. I'd like it in a smaller band and bigger cup.
