  1. It has been done!!

After happily discovering that a bra that I had spent a lot of money on that didn't fit last year now fits (wow so long), I wanted to see how much better I could make it! It was great to have a 3 part foam with lace bra, but I really disliked the wide gore and east-west wide shape. How could I get it to how an *actual* plunge fit? And how could I stop the stupid arm gap?? Well, the answer seed simple yet scary... Cut it open and alter it!! Gasp!!!

So... I did it! After lots of hesitation, I started by removing ... the bow and taking the center gore in. Then, I carefully seam ripped off the upper elastic and strap elastic, cut down and over the armpit edge by about half an inch, then sewed it back up. And... It worked!! I am SO happy with the results. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> No more arm gap! My breasts are actually pulled closer together! There is the tiny issue of the raw edges of the gore digging into my sternum, but only hurts slightly after 12+ hours of wear, otherwise a non issue. I've had MUCH worse in ready to wear bras *cough*Marcie*cough* after just a couple of hours, so it works.

Yes, technially there is still some empty space on the sides of my breast, like a quarter of an inch, but... It fits comfortably! And I like the silhouette under clothing. I could always try adding a narrower plunge underwire... I just bought some for bras I'm making myself... Hmmmm

Powermesh in wings is WEAK as mentioned in very original review, so it's already really slack. Causes a bit of upward drag of shoulder blades, but not too badly. On 2nd hook. Could add another layer of powermesh like I always talk about but never actually do... Haha. This might be my running alterations/project bra. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_razz.gif" alt=":P" /> For now, the bra makes me happy, so much in fact I MIGHT just order another...

Hopefully this is helpful by showing that YES, you CAN alter those nitpicky parts of your bras you wish were just a liiiittle bit different. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_smile.gif" alt=":)" /> Thanks for reading!

I love that hot pink. It looks great on you!

Awesome work on taking the plunge to make a bra work for you. I am petite and had to face up to hemming my pants years ago. I now use the same approach to bras which has given me more choice and bras that fit better. Good salvage!

brasaremean Sovavosi Thank you! I definitely disliked the color at first as the picture online was WAY more muted and this is almost neon, but I've grown to love it as black and pink are my most favorite colors. :) Plus yes I do agree that pink is always a good color for my skin tone. :P
@jazzypants I'm glad we feel the same! I'm also petite plus waistbands always gap in the back. I used to stress about finding curvy-fit petite pants, but finally experimented with altering regular pants myself, and now I know I can always have pants and skirts that fit. :) It's a good feeling!

    Didn't fit

Surprise!! It is now December 2018, and this bra has actually fit since June!! It sat waiting to be sold for nearly a year, when I was at a distraught place with a new body weight and breast size and all my bras rapidly becoming too big (weight loss was healthy and intentional, but having nothing to fit sucks!!), so I was trying on all my previously too-small bras to see if any would fit... And BAM, new bra!! The fit was really close! But as I always hated that, for a plunge that's supposed to induce cleavage, it sure as hell had a really wide gore. The ... straps were also too wide, so the infamous foam cup gapping was happening. So.... I altered the bra!! It was something I had always thought about, but was scared to do. I sew partially for a living, and couldn't do a hack job... SO.... Go on over to my other listing of this bra with alterations and see how it went... https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_wink.gif" alt=";)" />

    Older Oct 2017 review below.

So sad. https://d28qt14g3opchh.cloudfront.net/smileys/icon_sad.gif" alt=":(" /> As you can see, it is a MUCH bigger difference, in both size and shape, than the 30E. I expected just one cup down, but this feels like 2 or 3 cups smaller (30E was about a half cup too big). The apex is more than an inch lower, and the side of the cup and wing much lower as well. Somehow, the cups felt more separated though. The band was shorter but stretched longer. Wires nearly the same width, but significantly shorter and MUCH shallower cups.
Here is my comparison, and I included photos of them side by side to show how huge of a difference they have.

The color is a bright neon pink, not the fuchsia as listed on Boux Avenue's website, which was a disappointment as well. Not quite as good in quality of wing mesh, thinner and shorter straps, and significantly shallower and shorter in cups. I admired this so long, I am SO sad it won't ever work. :'(
Boux Avenue is very cruel with their shipping costs and return policies, so returning is sadly not an option. It's still a good bra, just not the right one for me. Hopefully someone else can find this a cute bra to add to their closet!
