Didn't fit

I am in love with the Antonina lace! I added a photo of the garters, face mask, and thong along with the bra. You can see the areas that have the shimmery bits on the lace more on the garters, it's so pretty. My BM Antonina is my all time favorite bra. As always, the Ewa Michalak construction is precise and excellent in quality and design.
I got this because the PL style is my best fit right now after exclusively wearing EM for a few months and dealing with some growth/tissue migration. I suspect I have symmastia and I need a low gore so the only style I have found that is narrow with a low gore in 65G is the EM PL. I still fit 65FF in the BM and SF styles I have and the gores on those are at the very top of the height I can do comfortably so I have been wearing the PL for the gore, but it's not the best fit for me elsewhere. The straps are so wide on both PL styles I have. I moved them in and reinforced the sides myself on a different PL I have but I would need to size up to 65GG for Antonina if I wanted to move the straps in since there is some loss of cup volume when moving straps. I worry that a 65GG will be too tall and wide though. After a couple hours I had painful red marks on the armpit area so I am wearing it with an extender and that has resolved the issue so far. I don't want to move up to a 70 band for PL because the cup is wider/taller. Maybe the band will loosen and it will be more comfortable over time. I have soft tissue, narrow roots, center full, and I am functionally very bottom full/deflated on top due to major weight loss. Because I have soft tissue and am center full, the tissue spills into the center in this style, which isn't uncomfortable and I still feel support from the rest of the bra, but it does cause major cleavage boob sweat on hot days. I can jiggle around and bend over without any nipple slip so it's not major spillage. It's still very narrow, but not as narrow as some other EM styles I own. This bra also reminds me to have good posture (my posture is terrible) because it pokes a little in the armpit if I'm hunched over for a long time.
Overall, PL style is nice and it makes my boobs look fantastic. If I wasn't looking for a very low gore I would probably own one or two of these for days I wanted major cleavage or very low cut outfits but probably wouldn't wear them regularly because they're not the most comfortable style. I've written to Ewa Michalak asking about changes or other styles that may work but they always suggest I stick with the PL, so maybe they'll eventually add more variety in low gores. I'm just grateful to have found a few bras that are pretty, well made, and give me the support I need based on my extremely specific bra needs.

This looks really good on you! Antonina is definitely one of my favorite lace fabrics on a bra. I can totally relate with the strap width. There are some that are very wide set and act as a posture corrector.

Happy2BraShop thanks! I really love Antonina. I've been working on fixing my posture because I had a student who worked in a spine clinic and gave a bunch of speeches on the dangers of bad posture (I teach public speaking) and this bra definitely helps! Everytime I hunch over for more than a few minutes I feel the straps and underwire and think oh, I need to sit up straight. It's a nice reminder. I compared measurements with the other PL Antonina and they're a little different and I may end up ordering that one as well lol this order came from Poland in only 9 days! I was pleasantly surprised.

That set looks stunning on you! I love that you got a matching face mask! I love the antonina lace too.

  • 2

Wilderness1 thank you! I had to get all the Antonina I could lol and the face mask was a couple dollars. They sent me a mask in the tulipan lace for free and now I want to get a matching bra it's very pretty. They're perfect for weddings and other special occasions. Ewa Michalak formal wear lol

    Wowww, looks really amazing!!
Congrats on such a pretty set!

Do I see correctly that every item has a beige lining except for the briefs?

Are these the non-chafe lace thigh covers - and have you tried them / what do you think?

I normally use cotton bike shorts in summer under dresses / skirts, but have been curious about this type of anti-chafe-bands.

Also I feel your pain with the wide-set straps :( PL, S and SF styles have the worst strap placement for me.

And sadly, Ewa is notoriously stubborn on making any tweaks on her bras.

Admittedly, when Ewa's bras do work they are phenomenal... But I secretly keep dreaming of an Ewa-Comexim hybrid company, where alteration requests are an option 😇✨

bubblegum you are correct about the lining, although the garters only have a beige lining on one small section. I have only worn the garters once but I personally prefer bike shorts under dresses. I got these to match the set and to wear for special occasions. My thighs mostly chafe at the very top and the garters don't go up that high. If the chafing area is lower, they would work great. They stay up very well and are comfortable. And they were nice to wear under a dress when it was a record heat day.

An Ewa-Comexim hybrid company would be a dream come true!

    yea, so pretty WildWolff !

  • 2

Looks gorgeous on you! And yeah the wide straps are a pain literally and figuratively. I wonder if EM would move straps in for a small fee?

  • 1

WildWolff , would any of the Comexims work for you, specifically their unlined bras (balcony bras https://www.comexim.pl/en/14-balkonetka, which to be honest, I have not tried, lol, so I'm not one to advise on those bad boys...but I will try them one day).

I just say that b/c I know they can lower the gore if requested (and hopefully they will do that). It would give you more options. I found this blogger, she is not your size, but she does have a bunch of posts on Comexims...not sure if it would be helpful b/c - again she is not near your size. but she does get alterations done from them https://bratoday.wordpress.com/2016/06/13/comexim-musetta/

    BraOdyssey thanks!

@margesimpson thank you. I have contacted them several times asking about styles and alterations. I asked for the straps to be moved in on this and they said it couldn't be done for this style. I've spent a lot of time researching bra construction, looking at details on different brands, and I've done a lot of sewing experiments on bras in the last few months and I've found that Ewa Michalak construction is extremely precise. The way they sew the straps on seems to hold a lot of the bra together. I have a lot of respect and admiration for what Ewa creates and produces so I accept that changes cannot be made and have considered getting some custom options from them if it's ever in my budget. I think because Comexim is so willing to do alterations I expect other companies to want to do the same and I shouldn't expect a company to change because another one works differently. But it does make me more likely to order more Comexim haha

  • 2

BraOdyssey I do plan to order Comexim with alterations, I'm waiting for my size/migration changes to settle for a bit first. Then I would have to figure out sizing again because I've worn between a 65HH-K in the last six months. I've tried several Comexim bras now and the half cups are nice but too shallow/gore too high. The plunges have a larger number of issues so I worry about asking for too many alterations and not having them all done. I think I would need a reduced gore, reduced cup, straps moved in, added depth at the wire, which feels like I'm asking for too much. And I've seen from my research here that in some cases reducing the gore makes the cup much wider so I'd probably also have to ask for a narrow wire with reduced gore. One day I will have the mental energy to go through the Comexim alterations process and ordering!

Va-va-voom! This looks absolutely gorgeous on you! I'm so tempted to buy a PL antonina as well, but I've never tried the style so I'm unsure as to which size to go with. I have a 65G PL on the way, so maybe that'll work? I think M cuts would be perfect for you, but they stop at 65FF volume :(. It may work though? I wish ewa had more low gore styles too! An umlined low gore would be to die for! I hope ewa can figure it out.

How are the garters? Do they stay up well?

  • 3

marilynne thanks! The va-va-voom is a little less from the side angle, maybe I'll add some pictures, I always forget. The PL style does make them look less empty on top and rounds the shape a lot. You're welcome to try this one out if you're thinking of ordering one! Since you live so close it wouldn't be hard or take long to mail it back and forth. This one fits different from the other PL I have and the measurements differ slightly from the other Antonina PL. I asked about the M cut but I think I need a 65GG in padded styles so they told me to stick with the PL. I hope she comes out with a soft or unlined plunge, that would be amazing.

The garters are nice and stay up very well, there's a silicone line along the top and bottom that holds to skin well without being uncomfortable. Very nice and breezy on hot days. I'm kind of short and I think that affects it a bit. If I was to wear them as high up as I can where my thighs actually chafe, they roll over on the top because they reach my butt in the back but that doesn't seem to be a problem on the model photos with taller women. I got them to match the set and for special occasions or lingerie type wear so I don't think I'll wear them for an entire day.

WildWolff that's so sweet! I'll see how my PL blekitna fots and I may just take you up on that. I can send you some of my bras to try too, I have a couple of 65G/60GG ewas and some similar fitting comexims that may help you find your fit.

Oh, so the shape is like the comexim 3HC's va-va-voom from the front and flattened from the side. I didn't know that, I was assuming it was like comexim plunges but with a lower gore. I'm looking forward to the side view pics.

I have short legs too, so I think I'd have the same problem as you. What size garters did you get? Maybe sizing down would make them shorter too?

  • 2

marilynne that would be awesome, I hope the PL fits! The shape isn't flattened, I should have clarified more. The shape is fantastic all around. For me because of my soft tissue they're a little less round and in your face from the side than the front view because they spill into the center in the front. Much more va-va-voom compared to Comexim plunges. I have a crop top that I've worn with the BM Antonina and it's a cute, pretty normal looking crop top and in the PL it barely covers them haha it's a great lift and shape. Slightly less projection at the wire than other EM styles though.
I got a size 2 in the garters. I think sizing down would give me a thigh muffin top on both ends unless the lace was very stretchy. Sizing down I think just makes it thinner, not necessarily shorter. The sizing is based on the measurement of the thickest part around the thigh.

  • 2

    WildWolff thanks for the info!!

Same for me, it's mostly the uppermost part of my thighs where I like some 'barrier', so I had been wondering whether such garter-style 'hold ups' wouldn't sit too low.. Sounds like I'll stick with bike shorts; but I can imagine these being super pretty for fancy occasions!

(@marilynne I also asked about the garters / chafe bands haha, see WildWolff's reply above!)

Edit: hadn't refreshed the page and only saw your recent comments after typing mine just now! #redundant ;)

  • 3

WildWolff ohh okay, I wasn’t sure if Ewa did alterations. Good to know. And I totally agree with you, in that I do have a lot of respect for Ewa and her bra engineering skills!
Yes we are spoiled with Comexims alterations haha
I feel you too on the comexim alterations, like for the plunge I think I need way too many alterations to try and make it work...but the 3HC has worked well for my lack of fullness on top. maybe the 3HC when you feel ready to try :)
I’m glad the EM plunge worked for you! It is a nice lower gore

  • 2

Oh, awesome! I see what you mean, I'm super excited to try a PL! I need a lot of projection at the wire though, so hopefully that doesn't mess up the fit too bad on me.

I wonder if you could shorten the garters?

  • WildWolff , this person alters their CHP by moving the straps in just 1 cm. https://www.bratabase.com/bra/diyt7/
Personally, I wouldn't want to risk it though! It looks like she's not active any more on bratabase though, to ask her.

  • 1

margesimpson I've tried Comexim and Ewa CHPs, the Comexim ones were way too shallow which I could fix by asking for more depth but it's the gore with CHP that is the issue for me. Besides the gore, a CHP is a perfect cut for my soft tissue and lack of upper fullness, and I like the shorter cup. They give a great shape and feel so supportive. I still have a few that I wear every week or so but because of the tissue between my breasts I never get a full tack with a CHP so the bra moves around more throughout the day and I have to adjust occasionally.

@marilynne there's more projection than any other padded plunge or moulded bra I've tried but I do find myself pushing the wire back up into my IMF a few times a day on the side I use the cookie in, I assume because the cookie pad takes away a bit of depth. I also have horrible posture though so that could be a reason for it falling as well. I will have to look into adjusting garter length and see if anyone has done it and written about it online. It may be worth trying.

@braodyssey I've moved in straps on a lot of bras myself and have done all sorts of alterations on my journey to find a good fit. I've found with Ewa the construction is so precise that any single alteration affects the fit in other places. Comexim was better for moving in straps, I just need to size up a cup to account for the loss of volume with strap adjustment.

  • 2

I see what you mean, I’ve had issues with gores too. But way less with Polish bras! I don’t know how I managed before discovering Polish (can we say pain everyday? LOL)

  • 1

margesimpson I totally agree! Before polish bras I thought back pain was just a fact of life with boobs. I spent a whole year in bralettes and in the winter I would double them. At least I found polish bras eventually!

  • 2

I added some photos of other angles and how my soft tissue and bottom fullness affect the fit of the PL. It's probably why the straps are so uncomfortable for me. I will probably size up a cup and alter myself for future PLs since they are one of very few styles that work for me. marilynne I think with your upper fullness and firmer tissue the PL will work fantasticly!
