Didn't fit

First time reviewing a bra on the Bratabase, TL;DR at the bottom.

Style and material: The Bravissimo Stella is a non-padded plunge bra with leaf-style lacing on the cups and a semi-opaque mesh band. This bra is very relaxed, simplistic and lightweight. The material is very soft even on the straps and doesn't scratch or poke into you anywhere. The underwiring of the bra, like a lot of bravissimo bras, feels quite thick and sturdy but it doesn't come at the expense of comfort. This is a bra with a lot of 'thin points' such as the straps, gore, and the 2-hook band but these don't pinch you or dig in at all. You can't get away with machine washing this without proper care (such as use of a lingerie bag) as the material quality easily degrades.

Shape - bra vs me: This is where the negatives start, the underwire on the sides sits a bit too far from where the breast tissue ends, which is not an uncommon problem for me with standard retail bras. You can also see in the angle and side shots that the lace flares up a little at the top, where I barely have any breast tissue. The fabric of the bra wrinkles slightly on the right cup as that breast is smaller but I won't hold that against this bra as I've yet to come across a unpadded bra that doesn't. The Stella seems to 'flatten' me which I don't particularly like when it comes to wearing it under form fitting clothes. A positive is that the underwire sits perfectly under my breast tissue.

The size (30E): I think I got the cup right as the cup size down did produce some quad action. I semi-purposely went a band size up as I wanted a sort of bra in my arsenal for comfort/lounging purposes. I also bought this at a time when I was in denial about fitting into 28 bands. In hindsight, I could've stuck with the 28 as the band was quick to loosen to the point of comfortably fitting my fist under there.

TL;DR: It's not the best fit but it makes for a great lounge bra or more a loose relaxed bra for when I'm not necessarily needing a lot of support and bought the band a size up for that purpose. However, I found that the band has loosened quicker than I expected so keep that in mind if you're looking to get this bra and are between band sizes. The cup on my smaller (right) breast ever so slightly wrinkles when lying down but otherwise my breasts feel supported. The cup underwiring is slightly too wide but doesn't feel uncomfortable. The gore doesn't dig in and feels super comfortable (even in my usual band size of 28) which is my favourite thing about this bra.

Ooh! That’s pretty! It’s wired, but minimally?

  • Calluna The company I bought the bras from does give its bras what feels to be mid-thick and sturdy underwires to their wired bras but honestly I barely notice them in this bra!
