Didn't fit

This bra was absolutely ridiculous on me. The band was so tight I could barely get it on my body, yet it kept sliding down my body every time I moved slightly, and the gore wasn’t touching my body. The straps weren’t long enough to hook in the back over my shoulders. The cups crushed the hell out of my boobs, and were not at all deep enough, leaving the lower 1/4 of the cup vacant while the rest of the fabric flattened my boobs against my body. The wires came up way too high in the front and under the arm, feeling super cage-y and stab-happy.

How did I commit a fit blunder this badly? How can I avoid doing this again? It feels like I made just about every possible mistake on this one.

  • Wireless bras are almost impossible. but it does help to read the reviews here before you buy, and look at the measurements in your size or the closest sizes

This bra seems to run very shallow in the cup esp at the wire, resulting in the squish from the bottom, making the upper parts also shallow because there's more of your breast and blah blah.
That automatically would make the band feel tighter too cause your breasts are pushing out the bra.

Now I'm not sure, but when you put on the bra upside down with the cups resting against your stomach, does the band still feel like it's too tight?

If not, then band is probably fine, the cup is what the issue is, but I'm afraid that sizing up in cup would result in very tall, but still shallow cups that would have the whole orange in a glass effect going on.

These are the reasons I didn't order this bra myself, because reading some reviews these seem to be very common issues with this bra.

dbmamaz this bra isn’t wireless, the wires were actually an issue.

I did read the reviews here, and had thought I had my sizing correct, and that this would work with my shape. I’m wondering where I went so wrong.

BTW you can see in most photos of this bra the issues I'm explaining. Even if the reviewer is happy with the fit, remember that is a very personal thing. I can see in one of your photos the wires are clearly sliding down... you can see this in a lot of other photos. It makes me thing this bra has zero projection at the wire and boobs are looking for more space up top thus pushing the bra down. Et cetera et cetera

  • Also remember, strapless bras are a world of their own and sometimes compromises have to be made with them since they are not really meant for every day wear so you can get away with having a fit issue or two (if you are not uncomfortable, of course). They have a purpose to server for a couple of hours and that's it.

Years and years ago I had a Palmers wireless bra--it was beautiful and it was my workhorse bra. I recently pulled it out of my sister's drawer (yes I did pass it on to her) and it actually has very good projection at the wire. I immediately thought to buy another one in my size, but sadly they do 34 bands min and I don't even think they do large cups.

  • by *wireless I mean strapless it won't let me edit

  • Also sorry for the spam lol

Haven’t tried to upside tactic; I’ll give it a go for sure!

Also, please don’t apologize for spam, I could use all the info I can get!

brasaremean I was super confused when I saw and felt everything sliding down, since I thought things being tight prevented that. Everything was too tight, yet still this bra longed to be a belt: thank you for explaining why! Honestly, it sounds like this bra just isn’t made for my shape at all.

I had actually intended to wear this bra as a bra with straps (you can see them in the photos), but they weren’t long enough for my body, so I couldn’t hook them with the bra on. I tried hooking them on first and then trying to put the bra on, but that didn’t work either, since the straps made that kinda impossible.

    The upside down tactic*

If I were you I'd be looking for a regular bra with straps and not a strapless one because like I said, most of them seem to be very shallow at the wire resulting in all sorts of issues (the sliding down being the most common one).

The one strapless I did see that had decent projection at the wire is Panache Evie Strapless Bra (5320) but you can see the shape suffers a lot in most cases when it comes to that bra.

I have personally given up on strapless after realising that probably not one of them would work for me at all.

You can see a video of Evie here. I think I would put the model in smaller band and larger cup cause there's some clear overspill on the sides, but even as it is you can see that it actually does have decent immediate projection

  • brasaremean I went after this bra because of its ability to multiway, or so it claimed. My right shoulder is lowered and has had some minor neurological issues, so the ability to multiway and take wight off my shoulders is crucial for me. I know that’s an alteration I can always make later, but it takes time and it’d be so much easier to have it done outright. Perhaps I should stick to Comexim, who I know can do multiways.

Ah yes I remember. I think then Evie is worth looking at because you *will* have the support of straps and it's actually a three part cut and sew cup which is good support.
That being said, if the straps are too short, you can always buy replacement straps (in a lot of places actually) that come with the hooks already on them and everything.

Another thing but I don't know how good the size range is but the Wacoal Halo Lace Convertible (851205) is a very nice bra that I bought in 34E and as such it was VERY tight in the band but also very generous in the cup (only slight quadding considering my actual size).

  • 1

But I wouldn't be buying that latter one blind, I'd suggest checking it out at a store if you can because the sizes really do run weird. Like I even got the gore to tack in 34E (34DD) which was a real surprise.

i also typed wireless and meant strapless!

The others got the advice stuff down well, so I won't add to that, but I will say this. You didn't make a fit blunder, it's just the bra. You did perfectly fine trying it. Personally, I think all padded CK bras are horribly made, and fit 100% different from their soft cup bras. So, I view this as a learning experience, equally of value and importance. Comexim and Ewa multi-way options should indeed fare better for you, but you still get kudos credit for trying this one, as it adds data and your experience will help other members as well. :-D For the love of data, we thank you!!

MamaPagan thank you, makes me feel better about the whole ordeal! In terms of how it’s made, I don’t think I’ve ever felt a bra with wires as easily malleable as this one. It came in a pretty flat box, and the wires were a bit distorted as a result - not the sender’s fault, just that it was in a box like that for so long.

Yup, that's Curvy Kate bras imho. Super flimsy and they just distort so easily.
