After a frantic few hours, I bought some new bras and they are on their way to me now. I bought a range of sizes between 34HH (a size I think I most likely am) to 36K (the size bratabase tells me I should be according to measurements). But boy howdy - finding a 34K is impossible, and a 36 K very hard!

If anyone has a trusty, off the rack, affordable, ships to the US, brand that consistently has sizes in the K range, please let me know.

I pulled out all the bras I still have and tried them all on to see what was going wrong where.

First off, my “fat bra” that has been the only bra that somewhat fits me anymore is actually a 32J, not a 34 like I thought. So of course that’s why it’s so tight. The cup size still fits *mostly* with maybe a little danger of spilling or double boobage if I take a deep breath. So I don’t know if that means a 34J would be a good fit or if I still need to go up a cup size.

My 34GG Cleo still is comfortable around the band (maybe even still has a little wiggle room, but I bet that’s because the elastic is stretched out after years of love) but I am just half in / half out of those cups. Major double decker spillage. I’m not going to pop out. When I bend over, but it’s like I have another set of boobs on top of my boobs.

I tried on my 34H (which I realized later was a US 34H) long line strapless, because I thought (due to the label only) that must be my biggest bra I own. The fit on the boobs was terrible (because as I would soon learn, it’s basically a 34FF), but the 34 fit around the chest was fine. Hard to put on solo, it’s a corset length bra, but fine.

All of my highschool /middle school bras (which could be old enough to vote now) consistently are a size 34G.
My more recent bras that I bought at my usual weight and loved for years are a 34GG.
A bunch of bras I bought when I was losing weight are 32HHs but they still have the tags on because before I reached my goal weight the pandemic kicked in.
I only own one 36, and it’s a DDD. So of course it doesn’t fit, but it still feels too loose around the band.

I like a tight band because, and I’ll be frank, my ta-tas are *heavy* and they need that barrier to keep them from sliding down to their best friend Mr Belly Button. I do not like having to readjust, whether it be pulling up or pulling down, my band all day. And I feel like my back and neck pain is actually better when I wear a tight band. I stand better when I’m not weighed down.
Do I like a band that leaves marks or makes it hard to breathe? Hell no. Hence why I don’t like wearing my 32J anymore.
But by looking at my bra trends over the last 2 decades, I consistently fit in and go for 34 bands. I think my true size is 34, despite what bratabase calculator tells me.

But, I will try 36. Just to see. I will give it a chance, I might think it fits better because it will be more comfortable. But the true test will be wearing it all day, sitting down, getting up, walking around, to see if it simply just shifts around too much to do my heavy ladies any favors.

  • Elomi definitely goes up to 34/36K, if that helps. Elila is another brand designed for this size range but their sizing is kind of quirky.

  • Check out Bravissimo. They are based in the UK but have a US site and one US store in NYC. https://www.bravissimo.com/us/collections/all-lingerie/
