size confusion

hello, i'm new here, so sorry if i mess smth up!!
but medium story short i'd thought i was a 34b for like, a few years now, last july i did the bra sizing method shown on the busty resources wiki (bust minus underbust i think?) and it pinned me a 30dd, i got a 30dd bra and the cups fit amazingly but the band was so, so, SO tight you have no idea, i couldnt keep it on for more than a few minutes and i was relieved every time i took it off!
so i tried a 32d and on the loosest hooks it was like, IMMEDIATELY apparent how loose they were, and even on the tightest hooks my boobs went pretty much everywhere BUT wholly in the cup if i moved at ALL after scooping and swooping, lol!
so i got some hook(? bra?) extenders for the 30dd bra as it fit me best, ...but it has a good few inches between where it connects to the bra's hooks and where the tightest hooks on the extender are, most of the space filled with a very stretchy elastic. so as you can guess it then ended up feeling too loose, my boobs kept sliding out of the cups, etc!
so basically, my questions are; i know a properly fitting bra can feel tight for the first few times you wear it, but is it supposed to Hurt?? how do i tell if it's a bra issue or a 'i just have a very bony chest' issue? how come a 30 band is too tight for me, but a 32d is too loose- am i just looking in the wrong place/at the wrong things and this is solely a shape/etc issue, or is my initial size (30dd) way off in the first place?? (my measurements should be visible on my profile!)
and, if i do a fit check for the 30dd bra (as it is the best fitting bra i have and what i'm using as my jumping off point for figuring everything else out because my 34b's and this 32d just have way too much wrong with them in the first place), do i include a picture of the problematic extender in question?? because it isn't a part of the bra of course, but it Does make other potential issues i have with the bra/my band in general more apparent, and i worry my words-alone description of it wouldn't be much help...
thanks for reading!! i'm willing to provide more details of pretty much anything (so long as it still has to with bras/sizing of course, lol)!

  • Hi and welcome!

    Couple things:
    - No, your bra band is not supposed to actually hurt you.
    - People with less 'squish' often size up from their literal ribcage measurement (depending on the bra)
    - Also, depending on make & model, many 30 or 32 band size bras will still fit differently.

This site can help you figure out which ones run small, true to size, or larger!

And; there's non-stretchy extenders that definitely work better than the stretchy ones!

Lastly, yes for a fit request: wear your best fitting option and follow the guide for taking pictures. It's definitely helpful to also add a picture with an extender.

    Good luck! :)
