Today I had an “ah-ha” moment!

So, I was reading this blog post on “Hugs For Your Jugs” this evening, and it dawned on me why I have so many shape issues with narrower gores/wires. My boobs are totally a splayed shape! I suspected it for a short while now, but after reading this it confirmed my suspicions. The problem is, I have no idea what bras/brands are good for splayed shapes, and unfortunately I’m not finding a lot of info on r/ABTF or google.

I also have no idea if this means I need wide wires or narrow wires. All I know is that the inner wire/gore should be wider. Tall and wide gores don’t ever tack for me, but narrower tall gores can. But no matter what I always seem to have gaping between the inner wire/gore and my inner breast shape/IMF. This also makes sense why every time I try to size up for more projection it gets worse with the wrinkles on the inner part of the cup.

I just wanted to share, but if anyone has any suggestions for bras to try I’m all ears!

  • Feels. All the feels!

  • One of my very favorite bra fit blogs. Honestly, I don't know what other fit concerns you may have encountered, but in most cases if a bra is comfy and supportive and looks acceptable to you personally when you wear it and you have no other indication of fit issues apart from a little bit of wrinkling near the wire, that is ABSOLUTELY not a sign of insufficient projection on its own nor is it sufficient reason to size up (or indeed down). Sure, if you can see lots and lots of wrinkling fabric somewhere, and other clues tell you that the cup or band is not quite right for you that's a clear sign there's a problem, but poor projection is only one of many different possibilities (like the cup simply being the wrong size altogether, or excess tension on the band because it's too small, or overtightened straps for example) .

I have no idea hat good bra fitting means cups need to look precision-molded to the exact shape of the wearer's supported breast... But if you think about it, exact, down-to-the-millimeter correspondence between cup/ wire and boob are pretty unlikely... bodies are not computer designed and boobs rarely are shaped like perfect hemispheres with perfect U-shaped roots. So if you were to look closely, just about everyone has small gaps here and there even in a very well-fitted bra.
