A Confession (Vicky haunts me)

I learned about ABTF maybe 8 years ago. I bought my first well fitting bras (30E and 30F) in 2014. I joined Bratabase soon thereafter. Thanks in part to this community and gently pre-loved bras, I've since invested in over 100 beautiful, well-fitting (and slightly less well-fitting) bras from Freya, Cleo, Ewa, Comexim and more. I wouldn't trade my favorite bras (Any 30F Freya, 65FF/70F EM S and SMs, or the 32E Cleo Marcie) for anything.

I'm proud to say I haven't bought a bra from VS in 6 years or so.

And yet...

D*** do I miss those laser cut bands. They were so soft. So smooth. So not mean elastic that drags/digs in/pulls when you try to lounge in the laziest position on the couch. My perfect bras are so comfortable running around all day, or sitting at a desk, or doing anything really; yet their back bands start to pinch and pull when I just want to turn into a blob on the couch (oh Freya, the betrayal!) It's probably because the bras are starting to show their age, but it only causes discomfort when I lounge. And I can't help it. My mind drifts to those smooth, soft, laser cut bands on the foam monstrosity that is a 32DD/DDD VS bra. They were a terrible fit, I hated my body, I hated having to size up in shirts and still not have things fit, but at least I could blob on the couch without angry red marks on my back and sides.

Have any UK/European brands made a bra with a smooth laser cut band? Ideally still with an unlined cup. I would throw all my money at that...

  • Panache doesn’t do laser cut but they do make some bands “bagged out”- the band elastic is inside a soft band. It’s really nice feeling. I know their porcelain elan bras are made like that, as is their sculptresse plus sized line.

  • Same here! My VS was the softest bra I'd ever worn. If only other companies would make some softer, smoother styles, or VS would make more inclusive sizes. Surely they're aware that many customers wear smaller band sizes, right? But they must have decided it wouldn't be profitable.
