So Panache Tango has always been a bit roomy on me but now for some reason it's too small.. And it's not because of period or anything.

I really don't wanna go up more cup sizes. I feel like I started going up more and more ever since I got a hormone spiral put in 2 years ago. Anyone else had that happen?? I was on the pill before though for many years but I was pretty stable around 30H/HH for a few years when I got the spiral put in. I dont know if it's because of the spiral or not, could be a coincidence.. but it has less hormones than the pills I was on :S Could be just weight gain too of course . UGH

  • Not exactly the same, but my boobs grew 1-2 cup sizes when I got put on medicine for my hormonal disorder (technically the pill). This happened within, like, a few months of starting to take my medicine and my boobs haven't grown any more since then, though. I know my gynecologist said that's a normal side effect, but as I'm not a gynecologist, I don't know about the timelines of this sort of thing happening + how that relates to hormone levels, etc. You could always ask your gynecologist (or, you know, whichever medical professional put in your hormone spiral) about it if it's bothering you and you really want to know for sure. I hope this all resolves well for you!

  • Something I do not think many science/health/sex-ed classes or doctors cover is breast development, at least not with regard to how hormonal birth control (or hormone imbalances) affect it. Your breasts are actually not considered fully developed until you have gotten pregnant and given birth, and your milk comes in. THAT is the end state. Your breasts *partially* develop during puberty/adolescence, but until you undergo the specific changes to composition during pregnancy, your breasts are "immature". (Even if you are eighty!)

Many of the changes to breast tissue - much of which includes expansion/growth - occur during the first trimester or two. As most people know, the pill and other hormonal birth control mimic the hormone patterns of early pregnancy, "tricking" your body into thinking it is already pregnant. What a lot of people don't realize or fully understand is that the "birth control bump" (as we called it in high school) of a cup size or two (sometimes more) is actually your breasts further developing - preparing for breast milk production.

The exact changes vary from person to person, just as changes from real pregnancies vary. Think about all the women you have seen go through pregnancy. Some women have very little breast growth, others seem to explode. Some women's breasts go back to "normal" afterwards, other women's breasts retain all or some growth. Some women gain boob with every pregnancy, others do not.

Increased amounts of fat in your blood/body can increase your estrogen levels, this can affect breast growth, and not just by increasing the fat in your boobs.

So what does all this mean? Well, every woman reacts to hormones a bit differently, so even "low-dose" hormones may affect you in a way many women are not. It means that if the hormones are enough to fool your body into thinking it is pregnant, they are probably enough to potentially cause at least some breast growth.

There is also the matter of how the hormones are absorbed by your body. You may be absorbing more into your bloodstream via the spiral than you did via the pill, even though the pill had higher levels.
