I understand that some clothing needs to be broken in. Hiking boots. Dress shoes. Blue jeans. But bras? I have always been picky about my bras, never taking anything home that wasn't perfect in the dressing room. The closest I usually come to giving a bra a true trial has been wearing it around the house for a day without taking off the tags.

There are two bras in my drawer that I have kept despite my discomfort, and have since come around to liking. One is a Curvy Kate Portia that I kept because it was dirt cheap and big enough in the cups. After wearing it with an extender for a year, the wires no longer poke me in awful places, and the band is relaxed enough to wear comfortably on the loosest hook. The shape was originally rather pointy, but now I think I'm more rounded.

The other is a Panache Tango Balconnette. Historically, I have hated Panache, finding every aspect of the bra uncomfortable. But I've worn it for several days and finally like it. Yes, the underwires are still too tall for my petite body, but they don't dig in to my sternum like they did at first. The cups are more formed to my breasts. And the fabric--even before washing--is no longer incredibly itchy. I can't believe that the bra has changed so much in such a short time, especially since I really disliked it during those first few days.

I might not buy Panache Superbras in the future, but I no longer dismiss them out of hand and might look more carefully at Cleos with higher gores than the Toni. As for Curvy Kate, I think I need a 30 band in the unpadded styles, and really want to find my Showgirl size. There is hope yet for my perfect bra!
