Sewing your own clothes?

I wonder does anyone here sew your own clothes? Are your boobs a problem when shopping for tops and dresses? What do you do? I am thinking about starting to sew my own clothes, since I have such problems with the fit. If I look at dresses I own, the only that fit rather decently are stretchy ones. And then often they end up shorter on me than they should or the waist sits too high since my boobs take up a lot of space. When I read that empire waists will be a new trend again, I just sigh… since it means the dreaded underbust seam sitting on top of boobs again.

Also anything sleeveless is just showing off my bra to the world as armholes are cut so large. Sizing up often does not work because then the shoulders are too wide or the waist too big. I don't think my figure is that extreme, these are my measurements: 106-80-106 cm or 42-32-42 in inch but clothes just don't fit. If I check size charts my hips and waist measurement would be the same size but I need 2 sizes larger for my bust.

Plus size dresses often fit much better as they offer more room for the curves but often I am just in between the straight and plus size.
I also just would love to find 2-3 nice dresses for sommer, I prefer skater style as this is most flattering on my figure and short sleeves. (Don't want to show my bra :D) Also natural fibres like cotton or rayon jersey. Do you know where I can buy that? It's almost impossible to find or if I find one that looks good, the fit is off again.

  • Have you tried @Bravissimo's clothing line? I love their sizing system, you pick the size you would be if you didn't need to size up for your chest, and then select curvy/really curvy/super curvy depending on how much extra boob room you need. I bought a button-up shirt from there and for the first time I didn't get the gaping buttons look, without having to go up a size! They have some nice summer dresses too :)

  • I wish I could give you some advice but finding dresses that I like and can fit me are forever the bane of my existence.
