Comexim 3HC sizing question (28F)

Hi all, long time no chat! I've been on a lingerie no-buy for a while, but I've got the bug again! Comexim has always been one of my favorite brands. A 60HH plunge with reduced cups and straps moved in 2cm + overlapping gore has been my best fit from that brand, at least in Ingrid, Victoria, and Veronique. There is a margin of error between all the styles (Florence in the same size was way too small), but in general that's my size. I got narrower wires in my Ingrid and that was okay, too, but standard wires wouldn't have been a problem.

The only fit issues I have with my Comexim plunges are that there can be some wrinkling on the front/outer sides of the cup just beneath the strap. The top edge can cut in a little bit on the top/shallowest part of my roots, while the "triangle" of space beneath the strap can remain empty since I lack upper fullness. My tissue is very soft and even to full-on-bottom. I'm functionally short-rooted.

Outside of Comexim, I only wear half cups. My best fitting bras right now are my 28F - Cleo » Breeze Longline Padded Balconnet (9025) and 30E - Fauve » Emmanuelle Padded Half Cup (0091) . These half cups have the right depth, width and height. I get as cloase as I can to cakes-on-a-plate and there is enough room at the wire to accommodate my projected shape and fuller on bottom shape while also giving me lift. Because it's a half cup, I avoid that "empty" top triangle issue I get with plunge and balconettes.

The last time I ordered a 3HC from Comexim it was a hot mess (65HH - Comexim » Victoria Half Cup - beginning here) and it was also when I was wearing a different size. It's time to start again. I'm thinking about a custom order, maybe Aida or the yellow bird print one. Normally I would send fit pics to Anna for advice, but I have had to put my bras in storage while I'm traveling so I don't have access to do that.

If you're still with me (LOL), here's my question: To approximate a 3-part Fauve half cup or Cleo half cup like Breeze, what size should I get and what alterations? I don't know if I should do a 60HH with deeper cup alteration and straps moved in; or a 60J (because a lot of people advise to size up in the 3HC) with straps moved in and cup height reduced? Please help! :) Thank you in advance.

  • In my experience, I do wear one size larger in the half cup compared to the plunges. I normally wear 28FF (previously 30F before I lost a bit of weight). I used to order 65HH in the 3HC, now I just got a 60J - Comexim » Scottie 3hc with straps moved in 1cm. I ordered my plunge in a 60HH - Comexim » Yellow Bird Plunge Bra. It has straps moved in 1cm. I previously ordered a 3HC bra with the straps moved in 2cm and it made the cup slightly more shallow compared to moving them in 1cm.
I'm not sure what you should order, but I thought I'd put this info out there in case it helps you decide.

  • Note: I also find the half cups slightly wider than the plunges (at least in the ones I've tried).
