Boobs are weird and so is bra sizing

(warning: info dump and rambles ahead)

Now don't get me wrong, I love my Jasmine (aside from the wires) and I love my BM... But, idk if it's just that time of the month when my breasts get bigger of if I'm generally getting bigger or what.

But no matter what, I'm always having some spillage on my larger boob (less obvious in the BM).I

Let me take you on a journey (hopefully, a short one). As far I can remember, I've never been wearing my correct bra size. And I will always be (I know some of you may find it strange) thankful to the that VS fitter for who saw me, because she realised there was no way I could fit into their size range (this was late teens/early twenties). One of them had laughably put me on a 34D and looked baffled why the bra didn't work.. The band was riding up, the cups had no support and so much boobage everywhere. She then called to another fitter who directed to do Dillard's because I was larger and needed a smaller back. The Dillard's fitter saw me saw me, put me in a 32G but made the disclaimer that this isn't my size, they don't carry it. I didn't mind. The gore didn't tack. There was a bit of some space on the side of the cups in the molded bra, maybe some mild spillage but I was happy. It was one of the better fits I could've ever experienced.

And then I grew again... I had nowhere to look, at this point I was searching all the bra blogs, trying to figure out my size but it just wasn't working.

Then I saw the Facebook book page of this fitter in my country, their base was in Mobay but they came into town once a month. (It's an island but one is on the north west coast an one is on the South-Eastern)

I was fitted into 28J. I was happy. Really happy I didn't know my breasts could be separated. I had a tango and two Lucy's I think.

I didn't much like the shape tango gave, it pushed me down and flattened my top..but eh.. I wore it once in a while but Lucy was my go-to ... And then a few months after I was spilling out the tops.

We tried on a few bras and they sister sized-me into a 30J Jasmine .. for a while that was all I wore..no other shape seemed to work (Andorra does but I'm sized out).. then the Clara came out and for a few blisfull months it was my go-to. The wires didn't poke as horribly as Jasmine. The shape was rounded and great..and while I had some empty space going on a the bottom of the cups...it was great. Until I started spilling out of the cups . That was fine I would live with it, if I adjusted throughout the the day it would be fine. Until it got to the point where almost up to my nipples were spilling out and I was like, time to go back to Jasmine.

Which leaves me close to present day, but I've noticed some spillage going on there (for the Jasmine). Buuuut I definitely know it's not a size up I'd need ..I think a size up may be too big and I'd lose all the support. Nor do I want to put my smaller breast in a bigger cup. I'm also getting some in cup quadding which never used to happen ..but maybe the lace has been stretched out?

Maybe I'm between cups? Idk.. the most I can say is that anytime I'm finding some fit-niggles, I at least find a solution after (like my BM after Jasmine started to fail)

It does make me wonder if I'm putting myself in the wrong size at times, but then when the other option doesn't work.. Eh.. Oh well

Case in point. I had a 30J from CK it didn't of course. Gore didn't tack, I was spilling (major spilling but woohoo for cleavage, lol) but it was padded, and if I adjusted it juuust right I could get away with it for like 2 hours. I don't know why I thought the 28K would be any better because it wasn't, there was no helping that one. Also the band bit into me so badly.

Anyway, I found a 30K daily dream in the Daisy pattern colourway on brastop for a good price so I said why not, if the 28K and 30J didn't, then surely the 30K will work..... It was big. Big everywhere so the back was taken in two inches and I adjusted the straps.. somehow it still managed to cut into my breast tissue while having space. Needless to say I gave up on that one.

Maybe it's just a matter of finding the right shape (which the BM has come the closest to) but at this point I don't believe it's a size up or size down issue..I just need to find the right shape?

Also because I'm just lumping everything here and I just mentioned shape, at what height can you say your boobs are high set vs. low vs average.

And tall vs. short. I do believe I have tall roots, but then I that the distance between the collar bone and where the breasts start is pretty average?

The only thing I can say is that I'm full on top and also (which I'm just realising) centre full. (<- but probably more so on my bigger side, the smaller size probably has even centre fullness). I also have very soft tissue (maybe from not wearing the proper bra size) Who knows, not me. Boobs are weird. Love them..but they're weird.

  • I've never to this day figured out my shape. In the beginning I tried a lot of bras that were the wrong shape for me too.
I still look at a bra and I'm like... yah, IDK for what shape that is but I bet it's not mine haha.

BTW did you try Envy? And also I think Prima Donna Madison looks like it would work for those who do well with Jasmine. IDK why, it just does to me.

We have all been there, right there with you, with your frustrations. We feel your pain. :-(

It sounds like you are happiest with Ewa's BM, but keep being drawn back to your Panache. We tend to hold onto our first real fitting brand. It's like comfort foods and security blankets in bra form. Maybe it's just time to let go of Panache? If they don't work, they don't work and it is time to move on.

You like the BM, but don't sound perfectly happy with it. What about the fit (specifically with the BM) is bothering you?
