Bras: Taking a step back.

Ever since learning about MyWifesBusty's guide back in late June 2012 I have been almost obsessed with bras. From bra fittings, to bra styles, to bra brands, breast shape, bra shape, wire width, measuring tapes, F, FF, G, etc., I think all of you might know what I mean just a little bit.

Bratabase, I have a confession to make...

I'm not wearing my new bras.

Yes, I'm still wearing my 38DDD full coverage bras from Lane Bryant that I bought last September that looks more like a plunge than full coverage. I realized today that I'm not even touching the Cleo and Panache bras I bought a couple of months ago that I went on and on about, the ones that I thought fit me so well.

Truth is, I wanted them to fit me so well because I felt like that would be my ideal size. I'm not one for negativity when it comes to body image, because I love my body and I fully support body positivity in everyone. It's just what the tag said made me feel good. Also, I was spending way too much money on bras when I need to be saving up for a place of my own.

But they're too big. About a cup size too big, and I know that, and therefore I haven't been wearing them at all. Not only that, but the wires on all three are ridiculously wide for my narrow breasts.

So with that said, I'm going to sell them. It's sad, because they're beautiful bras, but I can't just keep them because the label says G and that makes me feel good.

  • I may be misunderstanding you, but it seems like you picked the size you "wanted" to be and are mad that you don't fit into them.

That's not the point of all of this, is it? O.o

Besides, most women who are discovering proper fit in bras also find that their boobs respond to the change of not being smashed or pushed in the wrong direction(s) => "re-migration" some call it. Generally, the first "new" size you find is an interim size on the way to a newer "new" size.

I think the real point of spreading the bra-word is to make sure that women aren't just settling for the "standard" A-DD cups just because they're what's normally available, especially if there's something that will fit them better. It doesn't mean every woman is wearing the wrong bra for them.

Maybe your "original" bras were actually correct for you. If you like their fit better, then you should wear them. After all, everyone is different.

  • No, that's not it.

I measured myself, and it came out to a 38G. I really wanted 38G to fit, and I got so hung up on that bra size that even when the bras didn't fit, I still hung on to them.

I know that the 38E I'm wearing right now also isn't right-- far too small in the cups, but because the 38Gs were too big, I settle for the too small instead of the too large.

The point is, I'm telling myself to part with bras I got hung up on, because I wanted them to fit so badly, so that I can start getting bras that are in a better size for me.
