Indeed! Thanks for the link (the promise of a photo of the infamous D. was what made me click it).

I've got so many messages about give away bras so it's easier to let you know here that Lorna will go to black cardigan and Angel to Veggie. Thanks

You should probably close your listings of bras you promised to others/have already sold/sent away.
Yes, I'm going to, I had few people interested and it was easier for my to write one message here.
So my Cleo Marcie (6831) came from amazon and the 28FF is definitely too big. On my larger breast the cup nearly fits with a bit of wrinkling in the upper cup, but on the other side it is just massively gaping. I need a 28F in this bra if anything is going to work. I do have ... some questions about the cup sizes in this bra, but I'll throw a fit request up for that. I am sooooo bummed right now. I really want to have this bra in a size that fits me. I have to decide whether to pay more than I'd like for a 28F or if I should try a 30E?

Today I'm wearing my Freya Just Flew In Longline bra. I've worn it several times before, and while I recognized that the cups are a bit small, today I cannot keep myself in them at all. At least twice an hour I find myself scooping my tissue in from the armpits, just like I did in the days ... when my bands usually wound up at the base of my neck. Last week I wore my Freya longline bra in 30D to a cocktail party. In the 30D the cups actually fit around my breasts, but I had to use body tape to keep my boobs in the sides! I thought I'd found the type of bra for "low cut" necklines (the Freya longline) but something has happened and they're not working. Is this a tissue migration issue? Now I don't know what to do for a low cut bra and in this hot weather I can't be wearing full cups all the time...

I say migration, mostly. Probably made worse by the band being more loose due to the migration.
Anyone?
Back when I was both heavier and less curvy (Seriously, I must be the only female who becomes MORE curvy when losing weight??) I had a Wonderbra Ultimate Strapless in 32DD and it worked like a charm.
Nowadays I wear 28F's with an underbust of 25.5in.
I just got Panache's Porcelain strapless and it fits well but not as a ... strapless. It simply slips down. I'm guessing: band is not tight enough. That was on the smallest hook.
The Wonderbra starts at a snug 30; but maybe not THAT snug considering that those who fit it have 27-28in underbusts, right?
Any genius ideas?

Ewa do a few strapless ones, might be worth asking if they can custom make them in a 26 band?
Are they any good? I've been reading a lot about Ewa hassle around here!

I bought a @ Playtex Convertible bra in 38DD. I'm altering the band, and the straps are convertible at the top, so I'm going to cut off the straps it has and use my nude straps from my strapless bra so I can have a halter bra to go with my halters and T Backs

Did you buy it online or did you have the chance to try it on before you bought it? :) Ideally, what would be your band size? I'm wondering because I'm altering bands as well, and I've read somewhere here on Bratabase that a girl here took a bra to a seamstress to make her alter the band shorter, but she wouldn't do it. I think it was 2 band sizes down tops that she wanted to alter it. The seamstress said it was impossible. Pfft. Bullshit. I'm buying 38C's from Kappahl and alter them down to about 28FF's. I've had no issues with it, it works like a charm! The trick is... If you don't want to have additional altering on your shoulders (not literally, figuratively)... You just make sure the bra you're buying has a set of wings that are even in height all the way! :) There could be a slight curve but it's easiest with a bra that has no curve to it in the back (except the leotard curve that connects to the straps). I've found the quality of the XLNT bras (XLNT is a plus size range within the Kappahl brand) to be of far greater quality than their "normal" range. In the regular range the wires are flimsier, the bands are much lower (2 hooks instead of 3) and the materials don't seem as sturdy. When you get the hang of it, there's actually perks with knowing how to alter your bras! You might prefer the features of a bra in a different size range than yours, and now you're able to get those features with a great fit! :D I particularly like that I can get my hands on a bra with side boning, 28F's and 28FF's usually don't have that. And tell me about a 28F/28FF with three hooks in the back that isn't a sports bra or a longline? None ^^ I love to have 3 hooks in the back, it's much more comfy!
Is that why you're altering this bra? To have a halter bra? I'm sure there are none in your "actual" size. Or is it because you don't like to order stuff online?
I bought it at the local Kmart in town. While I do buy online, I don't buy online unless I know its going to fit- the back and forth of exchanges and returns is a lot if more than once.
I did try it on before I bought, I like trying on all my bras before I buy. I go to Macy's , or Dillards for bra study of what brands work/ fit well before I buy so I know ahead whats going to work.
My actual size is 32, right now I'm wearing a 34 band. I like Wacoal but I'm also interested in Chantelle, and they are the only undergarment brand sold US (French) that goes to 30 band and to H cup right now. Also they are unique and creative in the bras they make, many times I have thought Wacoal could do the things they are doing with bras.
Everything from T shirt bras to unique straps and convertible bras.
I agree about altering, there are benefits to knowing how to alter. Once you get the feel of it, you can alter more creative and try different kinds of bras.
With the seamstress, could be she didn't know how- or had not done that before.
I have altered many bras and for a long while.
If there are no strapless or other bras you can get in your size, or the bras that are available don't fit your shape, you have to wear a bra, at that point altering is a great option.
I needed a strapless for summer, but the bras I tried they didn't fit right. So I looked for a convertible bra , I found a Playtex that had convertible straps in regular and criss cross.
I'm taking of the straps that came on the bra and using my strapless straps so I can use the bra halter style, but I like clear straps too so it will be really versitle.
I found a convertible bra in Wacoal line called the Instant Polish, I need to try the G/H cup to see the fit, but I have to try first and Macy's didn't have it in G and H. I liked the cup, a soft lightly lined underwire, the bra in style is just like the Playtex, so for now I'm using the Playtex.
I think that once your skilled in altering, there are so many choices and options in bra wear, its like tailoring your own clothing/ undergarments. Lots of freedom with that.
Can anyone tell me how long shipping takes from Comexim within Europe? It has been 8 days so far and I have not heard from them either since the day they told me that the payment had been received.
When I ordered from EM, I received the parcel 3 days after sending.

I'm not in Europe, so I can't comment on shipping times, but it took almost two weeks after I sent payment for my order to be shipped. Yours might not be in the post (you should get a notification when it is), so I wouldn't worry yet!
hi, i ordered to England. i sent my e-mail order on the 24th april. My package was sent on the 8th May and arrived in England on the 14th. I went for priority, quick packaging!

So.
A couple of weeks ago, I pasted an article linking to epbot's bra-fitting on my facebook. A friend pasted an article about that horrible French study about being braless. I explained why it's not quite right - wrong bra size, yadayada, wire sitting on tissue, yadayada, sister sizing, yadayada. And she was like, 'oooh no wonder when I went to ... a bra fitter the fitter told me to go up a cup size if the bra doesn't fit!'
So I sent her a message with loads of text and links about bra fitting and how to measure yourself. She read it, but didn't reply. Life continues as usual.
The other day she stayed over at my house, and casually I asked her if she's willing to try a few of my bras, because they don't fit right on me. Clearly that's just an excuse so that I can gauge her reaction towards bra-fitting. And she went, 'oh yeah! The message you gave me................I'm not sure how to measure myself.' I whipped out my measuring tape and measured her. She has the exact measurement as I do before migration happens! 28G! I HAVE LOTS OF 28G/30FF BRAS FOR YOU TO TRY ON!!!! She wears 34C. Straight away I showed her how different 34C and 28G looked. She was ah-mazed.
She took my 30G Rhea and I taught her how to sw/coop. The band is okay, but from the fit of the cup I can tell she's FoB. So I asked her to try on my 30FF Miss Mandalay Paris. Perfect fit! However she feels the band is a little tight. She also fills nicely in my 30FF Panache Ariza and 30G Panache Sienna. 28G Cleo Lucy suits her very well. She loves the shape.
She saw my 28G Panache Sports Bra and was immediately interested. She put it on, jumped up and down and was amazed how it didn't budge or feel bouncy. We immediately ordered that bra for her on ebay that night. The next day she went to work wearing the Lucy bra, I asked her how it felt, she gushed "It feels good! I feel so light. It feels so weird because for once, my bra fits!"
By the end of the day I asked her again how it feels, she said that it still feels good, but a few hours after lunch, she feels the wire (or the band near the wire?) pinched her a little, but she adjusted it and all is well again. She's so happy and told her sister and said she should probably measure their mom.
Ahhh I'm so happy I managed to convert yet another friend! Her measurements are:
UB loose: 28"
UB snug: 27"
UB super snug: 25.5"
Bust standing: 34"
Bust standing: 35"
Full on bottom, her root is wider than mine, because there's no empty space on the side of Sienna whereas I have one and a half fingers worth of empty space.

Silly me. I got in a big hurry to sell the bra, thinking it would never work. Kept sliding down, felt jiggly, and all the like. The band felt about right (with extender), wires felt too high, and I thought that was making it slide down. What a difference a few adjustments make.
I sold ... it to another member and it didn't quite fit her. Having regretted selling it so soon, I contacted her and asked if she wanted to sell it back to me. She did!!!
The first thing I did was take about 2 inches off the straps. They were and still are adjusted as short as they will go. I just safety pinned them for now, so when I actually make the adjustment I'll take more than 2 inches off. Wow. I'm not particularly short (5'6") so what is the deal? High set boobs? OR just WAY TOO LONG straps with limited adjustment?
Then I put the bra on, still with extender, but 2 rows tighter than before. And... voila - fitting bra. I must say, I like it better than the PL. With the cups/gore higher, it feels more secure in the cups.
I guess I'm one of those oddballs that can wear either the PL or S (probably because of my very soft, malleable breasts that will go anywhere you ask them to as long as you provide the support, LOL).
Being that some 36J bands in Ewa are too tight without an extender, I think I am going to go with sister size 38J. I would rather shorten the bands than wear an extender all of the time. But then again, the Stalowka stretched out in about 2 weeks and is wearable without the extender.
If anyone wants some PLs in 36JJ, they're going up for sale soon.

Haha, that's so fun you sent the bra away and then regretted it and *then* altered it :D From the pics I actually love that bra on you. Also the color matches your skin tone very beautifully <3
The S Porcelanka, while it looks good, would look a lot better on me with a few alterations as well. The main one being taking off at least two inches off the straps. I'm nearly 5'7 but I do consider myself to have higher set boobs than 'average'. A lot of women have to alter Ewa bras, mainly the straps and the band, to get that perfect fit. It's a shame, really. Glad you got it to fit right!
I sent back some items I ordered from EM. I sent the package as guaranteed and with the tracking number I checked the situation: it says the package was received May 8th .
So now it is 14th and I haven´t got any message from EM. I assumed they´d send an email when they receive the package, but obviously they ... don´t. Is it normal that they don´t email me at this point? Should I just wait, and how long? And should I be worried about my exchange order expiring from their pages (It´ s been 11 days now)??
Or should I contact them?
Thanks in advance for any help!

When I returned my parcel to EM it took about 14 days to receive an email that my payment was being refunded. I think at the same day they also sent me the message that my new order was on hold (so they would start working on the new bras from that day on).
^14 days!! Wow.
I guess I should´ve just made the new order in a regular way, no exchange orders. That way I would´ve already got the bra, it is (was) in stock... :(

Went to Macy's on Mothers Day to try on bras- specifically @Wacoal. I tried the Embrace Lace lightly lined in a 34 DDD , the Basic in a 34DDD and The Dot bra in a 34DDD everything was way too small. I know I'm not a DDD, but @Wacoal does cut big, so I start lower and work up higher. ... They only had one 32G that was a mininmizer, so that was out.
I tried the Retro Full Figure in a 34 DD,DDD,G - the DD and DDD was too small, the gore didn't come close to tacking and was cutting in the middle of my cleavage. The 34G was a little big in the cup, the Retro line is weird, the way it fits/wears. Many women have given great reviews and my sister loved it as well, but for me, its just off. Could be my shape. I don't like the bra, but I wanted to try it anyway to see.
I tried the @ Instant Polish T Shirt Bra, I liked the cup style and thickness, I just need to try on the G and H cup to get the correct cup fit. Its a convertible bra, , the first I've found over a DD cup.

Since I was not able to exchange my 30D Cleo Marcie (6831) for a 28F at figleaves I decided to try to snag one from on Amazon for a good price but they only had 28FF and since I was spilling way out of the 30D I am hoping this will miraculously be not too big. I missed out on the Cleo Lucy (5851) though which was a bummer.

Aubade , Anita , Calida , Calvin Klein , Chantelle , Femilet, Lise Charmel , Marie Jo , Marlies Dekkers , Missya?
These are the brands that the store I'm going to a job interview for is stocking.
I've of course checked them here, and on ... their websites, but if anyone was able to apply a few key-words in terms of what they are especially good for etc., so I will be a step ahead :b I've tried some of them (Femilet, Marie Jo) but since they don't stock my size, my impression has mainly been "too small"
Poking t_maia , since she's like a bank of bra-knowledge, also besides the UK brands we see so much here

Calvin Klein is very popular with the under 20 set in my area; not a big range of sizes and I have been told by my teen that the bands run big. She does like the strapless, a 36 ddd fit her and she is usually a 34/32 f in uk bras, so this one is NOT a big band.
Aubade: Expensive, but very well made. Gorgeous, sexy designs. Lots of half-cup designs. Seems to run true to size both in bras and panties (my starting-point size of 32E is my Aubade size in every one of their bras I've tried on).
Chantelle: Comfortably (for me) wide wires. Seems to run true to size.

I just bought Bravissimo Satine Floral Bra (LN119), even though I know the wires would be too wide!!! Oh well, I've been lusting over this bra since forever. And if it doesn't fit, I can always sell it.
Do you do this? Buying bras although you know it won't be a perfect fit?

I did in the beginning, but now that I know what works and what does not, I've become much pickier.
I do get a little pickier now, but sometimes I can't help it, lol.
I just ordered my first Ewa Michalak bra. I can't wait to get it and I really really hope it fits!

What did you order?
I ordered this bra http://www.bratabase.com/browse/ewa-michalak/s-ptys/
I love the color and the design. I would have gotten a plunge style but the website seemed wiped out of sizes in the PLs so I thought the S would be good. I ordered my usual size of 30G so I hope it works out!

So my return to figleaves.com was fine but they are sold out of the sizes that I wanted. So bummed. I hope that they can refund my card quickly so that I can try to get the Marcie somewhere else. They said it may take up to 5 days! That is too crazy.

Amazon ?
Thanks for your suggestion crystal I just grabbed one of these though I had to go up a size since mine was sold out there by the time I checked there.
... because every time someone who is obviously NOT a 36B says "OMG my boobs so small only B cup" and I ask her what her waistline is and she's all like "28 inches" I just want to die. I know that if I try and show her these things on the internet like Bratabase, /r/ABraThatFit and Busty Resources, I ... will just get the same old "But I got sized at Victoria's Secret/ Well in AMERICAN sizes I wear a 38DD/ That must be sizing special to THAT brand/ They must be wearing the wrong sizes!/ I like when my band rides up, it's comfy" comeback, and they just look at me like I'm insane when I say that I wear 24F/28DD (pre-pregnancy) even when I show them my bra and how it fits. It feels kinda useless to me to try and help my friends get into better sizes because they insist on wearing their old sizes because they're AMERICAN sizes ad UK sizes are "wrong" -_-
Only gay men and two really fat girls (not just chubby or fluffy) have been open to this new knowledge of bras. I guess the more heavyset women are more willing to accept an explanation for their back pains/straps digging in etc. aside from their bodies being "wrong" and for some reason, a lot of the gay (male and trans female) kids at my community college know that VS does it wrong (for the current bra technology anyway).
Why must I be cursed with some knowledge of proper bra fitting? Why have I learned from this community? XD And why does everyone else here seem to have more willing friend and relatives? My sister is still insisting that she fits perfectly into a 32A despite her waistline being 22 inches. Sometimes I feel like I would have been better off never knowing.
What I do love about this community, however, is the fact that y'all have already been enlightened and every time I read something here about bra sizes and fit I don't feel insane anymore. Thanks for existing, folks.

I know the feeling! I hate it when people won't listen to what I'm saying and just bash it before they've even listened to me fully. I never talk about it unless being approached. "I hate my bras, I hate that xxxxxx and xxxx", then I briefly have a chat about how a bra really should fit, leaving out the details like orange in a glass and etc; I talk about how the band should be level and there should be no overspill nor gaping and that how you put on a bra affects the whole fit A LOT! I really don't bother when they won't listen. The ones who have listened are my mother, my sister and a friend of mine. Others who I've talked to about it haven't seemed like they're really convinced, and I just don't bother talking to someone who's not that interested.
And btw, 22 inches?! That's the smallest I've ever heard of :P Is she a grown-up or a pre-teen? (I'm not trying to be rude, it's just that I've never ever heard of someone with such a small underbust)
None of my friends seem to care about having the right sizes either. They do listen to me and most of them don't think I'm crazy or wrong. But they don't really care as long as what they have "fits".

Yay, I sold my first two bras here and it went very smoothly, without any problems .
On the other hand I experienced my biggest bra frustration yesterday: I had fallen head over heels for the 3d Ptyś by Ewa Michalak, as soon as it appeared on her webside. Having read good feedback ... for the 3D/3DM styles on wide root shallow boobs, I ordered it right away in the size her calculator now recommends for me. I wasn't close to any other sizes, so I only ordered it in this size. When I unpacked the bra, it looked so great, so retro ... but also a little bit small in the cups . And, yes, my first impression was right and it's at least a cupsize too small for me. Well, I could live with that if it wasn't sold out in almost any size - and especially the 70C I would need - now. I've never been that disappointed when a bra didn't fit me and I'm also so angry with myself for not ordering several sizes to try on (as everyone recommends with Ewa bras).
I also ordered the PL Karmelki in the same size, which kind of fits, but just about (if I breathe in too deeply, the upper cups cut in a bit and I'm most definitely not going to use the pads that came with it). I can't really decide on whether or not to keep it or send it back.

You can probably try asking them to custom make it for you I think :x
Looking at the bras that fit you though, you probably need a 70D/65DD and wear it with the pads? You can always stuff it more if it's too big :)
It's absolutely gorgeous though :) I really want to try the 3D's, but there's not a lot of information yet on them.
I just received a very pleasant and civilized reply to my (really very nicely phrased) question if I could exchange the 70B Ptys for a 70C:
"Hi,
Unfortunately we can't do such thing. We don't have any materials to sew that another for You.
Greet
(the infamous D. Michalak)"
I replied that I was quite surprised to hear that, seeing as they still offer custom sizes and the bra only came out on May 1st.

Just bout Freya Carmen Balcony (4702) in 28GG. It was on clearance for $10 at a local boutique. The fit isn't perfect, but I wonder if I can try some of those alterations brasihatelove has done on her blog. Now, if only I had any sewing skills. I'll post measurements & pictures soon.

Am I the only one who couldn't read this with a straight face? "She will not tolerate excuses or complaints, when she knows herself what is possible from each department." That surely doesn't apply to customer service...
