Issue resolved
Determined issue is due to shape incompatibility with wider gores.
Original problem
Gore does not tack. Initially tried a 36F. Tried fastening band on tightest hooks. Not sure whether another cup up would help any or whether Mimi & I don't get along.

I've tried Mimi in the past and found the fit incredibly shallow. I also think their cup grading is a bit iffy for most people over a DD. I love that they make bras outside the core sizes but really feel they are better for the small bust crowd than the full bust demographic.

So has anyone had luck with sizing up? It doesn't feel shallow or have the usual shallow effects on my shape, ie Claudette Sophia. That's frustrating, because it's so my taste.

I don't think sizing up is your answer here - the cup volume looks right. You'd have gapping at the top - you almost do now. I don't think it looks all that shallow either. I think the gore might be too wide set for your boobs. Try folding it a bit and pinning or stitching it narrower and seeing if it'll tack?

I'm not sure it will fold, the wires are tight on each other already and the gore area has much thicker fabric than the rest of the bra.

I have two Mimi comfort bras and the wires are very soft and shallow near the gore, so they don't tack 100%. However, they're SO comfy and they look so good that I don't really care. Maybe it's just not a brand that makes heavy duty bras.

Yup, replacing the wires really helped. Both my Mimi gores tack now. Just make sure the new wires are a good width for your root.

I think that's the issue, the gore being wide. I was reading some on my Claudette's which I love and are apparently known for being narrow, also the Masquerade Persia, and the comparison clicked in my head. I also just got some Pour Moi that are a touch wide at the gore, so while the soft/shallow wire probably doesn't help I've got to conclude it's a shape issue that I can just deal with for something I otherwise love. A little intimidated at trying to replace a wire!
Although... dagobra apparently had success replacing the wires. I guess Mimi doesn't use very good quality underwires!
