Hallelujah, I've found my holy grail everyday wear bra!!! Thank you sooo much reddit and bratabase - I'm forever indebted to you!!!
I have shallow, FOB, wide-set breasts and for years wore 34B bras. Then I got fitted at Victoria's Secret and life improved when I started wearing 32C, but even so, I still had that horrible gaping problem often enough that I started researching online and discovered that I'm actually a 30C/30D!!! I got fitted in a wonderful boutique lingerie store where the sales associate suggested that I try the Natori Feathers bra, and I couldn't believe that a plunge bra with such light padding gave me SO ... MUCH cleavage and it didn't gape at all!! The 30C fit ok, but gave me slight quadboob after it settled from scooping/swooping. The 30D fits better, but when my body is in certain positions, it does accentuate my armpit fat (I'm not sure what's the proper term for that) a bit with the first few wears. Regardless, I'll gladly accept that problem since it stretches out over time and because everything else about this bra is amazing!! I bought a few of them for super cheap on eBay and they are the bras I wear the most.
I just wish that there was a push-up strapless version of this bra so I could wear with my low-cut/strapless outfits. The only other problem is finding my right size in other brands since I have been using this as my benchmark and it tends to run a bit small. I've been dying to get a freya moulded cup bra, and I've been debating whether to try 28DD or 28D. Any advice is gladly welcome!

I don't recommend Freya bras. If VS and Natori fit your shape, go with Aerie, b.tempt'd, Betsey Johnson, and Thirdlove in 30D.

    • 1

Maybe the b.tempt'd b.wow'd bra would be good - it has lots of padding and convertible straps. Not sure about strapless bras though

    • 1

It's not. In fact it's the one I would not recommend out of all the b.tempt'd styles. It's not great for FOB types. If you're sure of your FOB shape go for the Aerie Blakely, Bridget, and Hannah. Thirdlove Plunge Perfect is also a good one.

    • 1

^Thirdlove's Plunge Perfect is supposed to be a Natori Feathers clone I think. They're discontinuing it though. The last few sizes are on sale on Thirdlove's website.

Ah, the Natori Feathers. Wide and shallow, they said, and wide and shallow it was. This bra is soooo wide. There's like, a full inch between the wire and my IMF. I don't particularly mind wide wires actually, and these are quite comfy and feel secure, but the cups being all the way out there makes boob-in-cup placement a tad difficult. This problem is only exacerbated by the fact that horizontal apexes of the cups are really far apart (even though the gore isn't particularly wide). The bra's shallowness in terms of immediate projection and at the apex aren't problematic, but what is a problem is how much ... it cuts in in the center - I don't consider myself to have a lot of center fullness, just close together boobs, and the Feathers does nothing to contain them. My breasts are firm enough that spilling isn't an issue, but, the quadding bothers me, even though you can't see it in pictures.(Edit: the underwires float near the gore, which I suppose is due to the shallowness. auuhgh.)

I do appreciate that the sides of the cups (not the wings) come up really high because I don't mind my armpit running into the bra once in a while in return for the bra not sliding back and forth over my ToS & neighboring tissue.

Well, aesthetics. I'm really fan of this look, so it's a shame it doesn't fit me that well. The feathery part is absolutely gorgeous, and I love the way it runs along the band. That being said, the band feels really delicate when I put it on, so I might appreciate a bit more heft in that department. The hardware is gold (colored), very pretty.

I tried this in 30D because 30C was just a bit too shallow for me. The cup is overall too big in this size, but it is still just the smallest bit too shallow, despite all the gaps I have inside the cup and the wrinkling mesh I get at the top. 30C is a much better fit for me, but not quite the right shape I'm afraid.

Feathers is ideal for very broad and shallow breasts.

As a note, the lace detailing on this nude 30D is very different from the graphite 30C. So, the style does vary.

    • I wouldn't say this too large, more like too freaking tall. So common in plunge bras, unfortunately.

    • lcl0706 Well, the wires are also too wide and I don't fill out the bottom half of the cups as much as I would like, either. But yes, definitely too tall, especially for my very very shallow tops.

    • 1

Definitely too shallow for you, I think, as it was for me! Shame, as it is a pretty and comfortable bra ,and I tried hard to love it on me, but I had to give up on it in the end.

thanks for this review! It's very helpful. I need to try on this one again - last year I tried it on and it fit me nearly perfectly. I had just a little mesh wrinkle on my smaller side, but I remember it being luxuriously comfy. I think that this is my only for sure fit. I hope it still fits a year later!

With this review in mind - I wonder if I am just too shallow for the Maddie but not enough FoB to fill it? sigh. onward!

    • alexad I tried really hard with the 30C too, because it's just so pretty, and more comfortable than most bras. I loved it, but I couldn't justify keeping it for seventy bucks USD if the fit wasn't perfect and I was so on the fence. *sigh* Oh well.

Codetry It's definitely possible you are too shallow for Maddie. And if so, I definitely think the Feathers would fit you. I'd try it again -- both Amazon and Nordstrom have them with free shipping and free returns. :) And with Nordstrom, you can return them in-store to any location.

    • Thanks, river_wilde ! I finally got a chance to try it on today! I am just slightly bigger than I was last year. I have the smallest bit of quad-ing in the 30D. But I think it's so slight that I should just get it. It's so comfy - I love it!
I also tried on a calvin klein perfectly fit push-up in 30C. It was way too small - but was seriously heavenly comfy!! I am going to look for it in a 30D. Tried both on at Nordstroms - they have a huge sale right now!

Since the 30C was too small in this bra and I was quadding out of it, I got the 30D. The 30D has its own issues. While I like the tallness of the cups, the cups were too broad and too close together spaced for my far apart spaced breasts. What I really want is a bra with the wire breadth of the 30C and the projection of the 30D, and with cups that are further apart. I got empty fabric on the inner sides of the cups, which is a common problem for people who are wearing too broad cupped bras and have far apart spaced breasts.

This bra is super comfortable - I hesitate to say "excellent" comfort because I haven't had a bra that fits me well before - so I'm not sure what it's supposed to feel like.

I love that the band is super stretchy - I don't like being squeezed, and the cups are very comfortable. I do notice that the lace overlay wrinkles a bit on the right side - see photo - but other than that it seems fine, and it doesn't seem to show underneath my clothes. Even though the lace wrinkles on the right side a bit, I fill out the bottom of the cups well. (I get wrinkling on the other cup - left cup with the Betsey Johnson Intimates Stocking Stripe Lightly Lined Demi Bra (723803) which I'll post picture of/review soon.

The top of the gore sits against my sternum comfortably, but the lace at the bottom doesn't - does that mean that this doesn't fit me correctly? Or perhaps it's because I'm very small? Help help me, please!

You need to post a request under Fitting Help so people can see the photos and your measurements and so on. The way it's posted right now (bra review/Adventure) means we only see the text, no photos or anything, so we can't give feedback on the fit.

    • thanks! Can I post direct under Fit Help? I didn't see a link so I reviewed first

I fill out this bra well, and the band at 30 runs small enough for me to use the middle set of hooks despite fitting into a 28. The plunge on this gives me fantastic cleavage. I prefer demi or otherwise half cups, but these can get too low for me when my breasts are at their biggest and I have to adjust the mesh outer portion to cover myself a little higher. The inner portion of the cups stays just covering my nipple. On smaller days, it fits better.
Despite apparently being slightly too large for these cups (I think they may run a tish small), they do ... not cut in at the top edges because the fabric making the cups is very stretchy and the lace softens the edge. The lace is very pretty and makes my breasts look very nice, but it does show through on thinner shirts.
The bra as a whole is very lightweight and good for use in the summer time, which makes it a bummer that it shows through sometimes. I save it for my polo shirts and wear it often. I've had it for a few months now and it hasn't show any signs of wear.

Tried the ever-famous Feathers, but I don't think it works for me. The 30 band feels very tight. The biggest issue is the gaping on my right. The left feels pretty good, aside from tightness.

The band seems a bit on the small side. Cups are a little too small and/or shallow.

In my experience, Natori makes really comfortable bras for smaller cup sizes, but the bras lack in support and shaping. Every Natori bra I've tried has a very stretchy band, cups that run on the shallow side, and give a very "natural" shape. This makes it a great option for those who prioritize comfort, but you'll have to sacrifice the support you get from a truly well-fitting bra.

The Feathers Contour Plunge is a popular style that for some reason never appealed to me before, but I noticed a friend wearing this as a maternity bra and thought maybe it would be a good comfort option for ... me as it's truly lightly lined. I haven't had success with unlined Natori bras so far since their stretch lace is so overly stretchy they provide no support, and I don't really like molded cups, so I was intrigued.

I ordered a 30D because I've found in my experience that the 30C is far too small for me when fully scooped. However, I was really surprised to find that these cups are also quite shallow and the 30D is also too small when fully scooped; however due to the increased width of the cup, it just flattens all my tissue out and gives me a pancake effect. I also tried 30DD and found that while the depth of the cup is better, there's too much empty space in the upper cup, and the sides of the cup by the armpit come up too high on me. In addition, while the band measures small, it is definitely very stretchy as the wings are made of stretch lace, and I feel it provides very little support.

On the positive side, I do find this bra extremely comfortable, and I would definitely like to wear a style like this while traveling. It sits nicely under clothing, and the true deep plunge makes it perfect under tops where my balconnettes don't work.

I would recommend this bra for small cup sizes that are wide and shallow, for people who don't need much support and would be fine with a flimsy band. Due to the plunge cut, it should work for different root shapes. I would not recommend this for breasts that need a lot of lifting or are extremely wide set and east-west, as the plunge cut could make you look really empty in the middle.

This bra is ALMOST it! If the strap wasn't so short, I might keep it. The other bra of the same brand and same band size had a longer band.
The straps were *barely* long enough, but enough is good enough.
The underwire was comfortably wide enough, the spacing was wide enough.
I would prefer the underwire to come up higher on the side, to gather in the stray tissue under my arm.
