    Didn't fit

    I purchased this bra a few months ago after first trying out the ABTF calculator and randomly buying some bras in my size range. It came in the first crop of NWT/new to me bras in that size range. had begun activly losing weight so I realized this cup size may have been a little big, especially with my smaller breast on one side. The bra isn't an ideal fit but it gave me a starting point to figure out where to go next.

    The Princess Balconys bras appearance was pretty and especially girly in pink lace. Most Curvy Kate bras are visually appealing to me and I ... wish this one fit better. The construction looked impressive when compared with my older cheap molded cup and push up bras, with horizontal seams sewn together. but I was happy to try more lightweight and better fitting bras.

    The straps were too far apart for my narrow shoulders on my petite body sadly, but that may often be the case with balconette/balcony bras. I wish they were in a little more. The center gore is a little too high up and kind of pushed into my sternum a little. I have a lot of center fullness to compete with but this may be the style on my body. I was quite happy to try a 28 band, that fit so much better than my prior 34-38 bands. The cups would have fit my prior breast measurments a little better, that had fullnes distributed differently. The lace on the top would have been good for the upper fullness I once had as well. The cups may have been too shallow, as I have heard Curvy Kate bras are but the fit was off enough that I really am unsure. The wide wires felt odd, and when combigned with the gore it pushed my breasts down outward running towards my armpits somewhat east west looking. That is not the lifted look that I want to achieve. I think I am even fullness top and bottom when i first try to lean over to gauge it, but I think my narrow roots and projection cause me to be functionally FOB, with a lot of prominent center fullness. Certain times of the month I gain a bit more fullness on top, but not excessive. Plunge styles tend to work out better for me. Right now I fit about a size UK 30FF 28G in non padded bras, and this bra is probably one I should find a new home for.

    This bra is pretty! Unfortunately its both a size and style mismatch but helped me gauge what to avoid and look for in some future bra attempts.

    I love the way the Curvy Kate Princess Balcony Bra used to fit before I gained weight. Any weight gain goes to my boobs and I end up with some mild quad-boob effect on my larger breast. I HATE that the little polka dots on this bra are thick/textured and visible through practically any material that isn't super thick or double layered. The dots are not only visible as dots but also raised, so they make a textured appearance that is really visible, even from far away. I basically only wear this bra when I'm going to work in scrubs with a thick cotton shirt under my scrub top or in the winter when I have 2 layers of long sleeved shirts/sweaters on to hide the polka dots.

    The cup shape is not as projected as I need, and gently bending the underwires closer only helped a bit. The wires a very wide, and sat almost towards the back of my armpit before I bent them.

    The straps are also set too narrow for the width of the cups, and are made of elastic. The stretch in the straps make me apt to over tighten them just to achieve the level of support I need.
    This bra's measurements have been altered
    Slightly bent underwire to create more projection

    This is an unlined, lace/mesh, underwire bra. I usually look awful in a balconette (with my horizontal oval shape), but the seaming on this one makes it ok. However, the wing height was too short (too much underarm spillage).

    About me: petite with wide horizontal oval, slightly conical breasts
    * average projection
    * wide-set (3 fingers width of space between breasts)
    * very wide roots (extend past the mid-axillary line)
    * short roots
    * even horizontal fullness (just barely outer full)
    * mix of firm & soft tissue (front molds to shape of bra, sides push wimpy wires away)
    * conical shape (but will squish to round)
    * full on top (2/4 shape, not even or very full) - BUT functionally even to FOB due to short roots and soft tissue
    * petite (5'3") so have narrow frame

    It was pretty with polka dots, a thin band of flowered lace, and satiny trim. But it is a total shape mismatch for me and just wasn't up to the job of lifting my heavy girls. My boobs kind of fell to the outside, while bulging out the inner tops and feeling like I would pop out if I wasn't careful. The apex was very low. I'm not sure what shape this one is good for, but I am very projected and pendulous, fuller on the outside but fairly even vertically. I have tall, but deflated roots that can appear almost like FOT when the bottom is well supported. The Princess was probably the lowest cut bra I've tried; I think I will need fuller coverage cups. The polka dots also showed through my shirt and made me feel like a pickle!

  6. I always come back to the Princess even though the fit is a little difficult to achieve. I find that if it fits in the bottom of the cup, then I have a lot of gaping at the top, if it fits at the top of the cup, then it's time for a larger size. The wires are wide on this CK model but I don't find much difference between the HH and the J - I'd rather have them too wide than sitting on breast tissue. Also, I love the colorway of bright pink with the burgundy ribbon.

      How are the straps for you? It seems like most of my gaping is caused by the straps being set too wide.

    • I actually do okay with the straps and I think it may be due to my outer fullness vs having no inner fullness. I get most of my gaping towards the center. I do okay with CK straps, which is one of the reasons why I keep buying them over and over. Lately, I can't keep Panache up at all. They're too wide plus they don't adjust short enough for me and I constantly have to tug them back up.

    Cups are open enough on top for my roots and shallow enough at the apex for me, and that is rare for me in unlined bras. So this may be shallow for an unlined bra. Also the wires seem narrow when laid flat but the wires are flexibleish so when the band is around the torso it extends the width of the cup. I love the soft velvet bits on the pattern of the cup fabric. This bra has me stumped, I don't know what else to say about it. The lace is itchy!! on me. Hopefully it gets softer after washing and wearing more. Finally I have a light mesh summer bra... right when Summer ends.

      So cute, but you are not alone with the "itchy" designation. I SO wish they would correct this misery. Glad it has partially redeeming qualities ;-)

    • 1

      That upper lace is terribly itchy! For me the lace only got better after I took the wires out of one of them.

    • 1

      Yup this is the horrible steel wool lace bra.

    • 2

      Seriously like how did that fabric get past quality control 😫 Oh well ive worn this the past two days and it's feeling better, or my skin has built up numbness to defend itself lol

    The wires are too narrow and cut in on the sides. I find the fabric very itchy and I have to add a camisole under most of my shirts because you can see the lines of the bra without it. It also digs in at the sternum as the day goes on, but i think that's because I need slightly larger/wider cups. The band is comfortable.

    I usually wear a 42GG, but since this bra is 15 inches of cup depth and runs loose, I got a 40J. The fit is pretty good, and looks good as well.
