Bra Fitting advice for Male with gynecomastia and growing breast

I need your help ladies. I am a natural born male who has gynecomastia and growing breast tissue which hurts when I become physical. I need some help on finding the correct bra size and type which will help support my growing breast. I have spoken with my doctor and due to medications I am on I am unable to come off of, my breast growth will only continue.

the ABTF calculator states I should wear a sister size: 46FF/G with the closest sister sizes of 48F/FF or 44G/GG

I have measured myself as follows:

snug under bust: 48"
Tight underbust: 44"
Standing bust: 53.25"
Leaning bust: 55.25"
Lying Bust:54"
Shallow tops of breast & Wide Root

Here's the Bra's I've tried:

44B: Chantelle - the best fitting bra I've worn although I found after a period of time the pressure on my shoulders was too much. I also found that when I raised my hands, the underwire rose up on my chest and onto my breast tissue.

42C: underwire band under breast flattens out, lots of bulge on side overflows the band top as it goes around my chest

42DD: Underwire band under the breast flattens out, but encapsulates the breast well, albeit a little tight

46DD:Underwire didn't flatten out near as much, but there was some wrinkling around the top of the cups

42F: Entirely too much upper cup

44FF: Underwire didn't flatten out, but there is some material in the top of bra cup

42H: Underwire felt like it fit like a dream but a more loose material in the top of the bra itself.

As you can see, I'm having a very difficult time finding the right bra... I've been to a nearby bra fitter who told me I was a 48 in band, but when we tried on other bras found a 44 band to be the best fit. The B cup however is a little small for the width of my breast root.

I hope I am welcome not his board as I am in need of a bra desperatly to help sooth my back, shoulder and breast pain.

  • Welcome! I would expect that you will find that the online world of bra fitting is quite open to non traditional needs. It's a common reason for finding your way to it.

Have you asked for assistance on abtf? I believe you're in a size range where it's recommend to make a post and ask for help (unless they changed it). I think that's the best place to find general sizing help when you're starting out. Throwaway accounts are okay.

When you know where to start you may have to try many different bras of different brands, models and sizes and that's when this place is unbeatable. It can help you find bras with the right measurements to improve your fit. There's much more to be found here but that's the main thing.

  • tried a Chantelle 42F today and it fit much better, some puckering of fabric under the cups and some wrinkles at the top, but a much better fit all together. 44E CK should be arriving in few days, can't wait to see the fit!
