When your body changes without actually changing >:(

When I first started my ABTF journey, I found that I liked a tight band, despite having only about an inch of squish. I've slowly altered all my bras to fit similarly, and a couple are approaching the point where I need to replace the elastic I sewed onto the band.

A couple months ago, I was going through a very stressful period (dad in the hospital), and suddenly I couldn't stand the tight band anymore. Which meant that a couple of recently altered bras that previously fit perfectly are now way too tight. There were already a couple that I had altered to be a bit too tight. So I need to buy a couple more extenders now.

I checked, and my underbust measurements haven't changed. My tolerance for tightness has simply changed on me. It hasn't changed back, and I'm rather resentful of it. No, body, you are not allowed to do that.

(This is why pregnancy is a horror story for me. Not something I want ever.)

  • i feel the same way sometimes. for me, i give my back a break and switch to "comfort" bras when i can to give the spots on my body that the bra band touches a break and time for the compressed tissue to feel okay again. i also try to rotate my bras so that i don't have the same width (vertical) band on two days in a row. maybe a massage would do some good? or a nice bath?

  • I hope your father is feeling well now! Now that you mentioned it, I notice this also happens to me sometimes when I'm under a lot of stress - I become very aware of otherwise small clothes discomforts. But if a looser band still provides you enough support, maybe it's also an option to wear the bras with extenders.
